Level 4 students write about important events in their lives
My Grandma’s Visit
Last year my grandmother came to visit us from Mexico. It was a special day, and I was happy to see her. I had not seen her since 2019. First, I asked for time off from my job because I wanted to spend time with my grandma. Second, I gave her my bedroom, so she could be more comfortable. I slept in the living room while she stayed there, and we talked about a lot of things from my hometown, and I showed her how to use the house appliances such as the stove, washer, water heater, etc. Everything was new for her. Finally, we all together went to eat at restaurants on the weekends, and we went to explore places in Portland such as the International Rose Garden and Pittock Mansion. They are special memories and I look forward to seeing my grandma again.

The Day that Augusto Came to My World
On October 21, 2017, I was 40 weeks pregnant, and he arrived on time to our date. On that day, I was cleaning the house and preparing the last things for his arrival when suddenly I felt something. I thought, “Did I pee?” No, I didn’t. My water broke. At that moment, my husband was at home. I talked louder to warn him that my water broke. Then, he started to gather our belongings and put them in the car. When we arrived at the hospital, the contractions started like waves in the sea, “coming and going,” more intense little by little, and they hugged me tightly. Three more contractions and my baby was in my arms. It was a beautiful day. I could see God’s mercy at that moment.
