What this means is students are expected to attend all classes and if you must miss a class, it is very important that you let your instructor know - ideally prior to the class you will miss.
Important to note: If you miss more than two classes, you will not be eligible to earn a passing grade.
If you are concerned, you will miss more than two classes, you will have the option to withdraw from the class before the deadline to withdraw or receive a non-passing grade. Please email your instructor in advance regarding potential absences.

Additionally, remote classes are to be treated the same as in-person classes. Students who achieve the highest academic success tend to attend classes with cameras on, actively participate, and do not drive or run errands during class time. We do understand there may be other reasons cameras are intermittently turned off. In these cases, please let your instructor know so we can make sure you get credit for all classes you attend.
Additional ways to earn that "A that is more like you" are to enter the course at least three times per week to:
check announcements and email,
study the learning materials, and
complete assignments, and work on projects.
For each credit hour a student should expect to spend at least 3 hours each week completing assignments, quizzes, and discussions during a 10-week course. In other words, you can expect to spend at least 9 hours per week on this 3-credit course.
It is important to read through everything carefully. Read, and then read again! If something is still unclear, please ask your classmates in the Course Lobby or send the instructor an email.
We also encourage you to upload a picture or avatar to your profile. This will help create a safe space and community in our in-person and virtual classrooms!
This course is designed with a discussion forum called the Course Lobby Within the Course Lobby you will find two discussion topics:
Ask Questions! Ask questions about the course materials. Include a descriptive topic, i.e., Chapter 2 textbook reading, in your post. If you know the answer, post a reply! All posts can be made anonymously.
Build Community! This is a fun and friendly place for you to connect with your classmates, share ideas, and post resources. This course also includes weekly module questions. You can read more details below.

Attendance - Students agree to attend all classes, however if you do miss a class it is your responsibility to text the instructor prior to class.
In this course, a student who is absent more than six (6) hours of class (including finals week) will not be eligible to earn a passing grade which will result in retaking the class.
Participation - Participation will be evaluated using the “Classroom Etiquette” guidelines listed in the next section of this document and the Student Zoom Etiquette Guidelines.
Attendance and participation are worth 10 points per day for a total of 100 points, or 27% of your final grade.
Self-Care Assessment & Self-care Agreement Assignments (6% of Final Grade):
You will be asked to complete a Self-care Assessment and Self-care Agreement for managing coursework and stress. These two assignment are worth 10 points each for a total of 20 points or 6% of your final grade.
Support Meetings Assignment & Reflections (6% of Final Grade):
Attend two support groups and write a one-page reflection on each. Online meetings are suggested. Resources will be provided in week 7; reflections are due in week 11. This assignment is worth 10 points for each support meeting attended & reflection for a total of 20 points or 6% of your final grade.
Addiction Project
Choose something to give up for the term and document your experience weekly. Each week, (Week 1 - 9) write a reflection on your challenges; make sure and apply class concepts for that week.
Initial discussion post (7 points, due Thursdays) and a
Reply (3 points, due Sundays).
Each discussion post and reply are worth 10 points for a total of 90 points, and all discussions together account for 28% of your final grade.
The 1st Quiz (Liquid Class Syllabus Quiz) is due at the before class starts, September23rd, 2025 and is worth 10 points.
The 2nd Quiz (Course Information Quiz) is due October 5th, 2025 and is worth 10 points.
These first two quizzes are worth 20 points and account for 5% of your final grade.
The remaining 9 quizzes (Module 1 - 9) are related to the weekly lecture and reading material and are worth 10 points each for a total of 90 points or 28% of your final grade.
All quizzes combined are worth 110 points and account for 33% of your final grade. All quizzes are auto graded.
There is no final exam in this course.
Feedback will be posted within 7 days of assignments being submitted. For discussions, your instructor will be present in each weekly discussion but will not be responding to every discussion post.

All work, including discussions, assignments, and quizzes are expected to be completed and turned in by the due date. And we understand that life happens.
Students will be allowed to be 24 hours late on a total of 5 different assignments.
Students who turn in a late assignment more than 24 hours late and before the week following the original due date will receive half credit-not higher than a B.
Assignments turned in more than 8 days late will not be eligible to earn any points.
Expect to spend 9 – 12 hours each week working through content and practicing for this 3-unit course.
