Orientation Week Schedule (for academic students)

Remember: ALL Orientation Week activities are required. To join Zoom meetings, click on the word "Zoom" for each meeting.

The first things you must do for Orientation Week are:

Complete our Online Check-In Form HERE.
Follow the instructions HERE to set up your MyPCC account if you haven't already. If you don't know your username/PCC email address, email oiss.orientation@pcc.edu.
Complete the New Student Document submission form HERE. You will need to upload some documents, which might include your passport, visa, I-94, or I-20. You MUST upload these before Orientation on Monday!

Monday, September 9: Welcome, Workshops & Community Building

PCC Sylvania Campus, CC Building

*approximate 5 minute walk with stairs or ramps from parking lot to CC Building Upper MallParking instructions & directions to check-in

9 - 10 AM -- Check-In

Meet with International Student Leaders

Group Activity

10 - 10:45 AM -- Welcome and Overview of Orientation Week

*approximate 5 minute walk with stairs or elevator from welcome space to main room

10:45 - 11:45 AM -- SEVIS Workshop

*approximate 5 minute walk with stairs or elevator from main room to lunch room

11:45 AM - 12:30 PM -- Lunch (Greek buffet)

12:30 - 1 PM -- Resource Fair

*up to 30 minutes standing and walking around small space to visit tables

1:30 - 2:30 PM -- Health Insurance Presentation

*approximate 5 minute walk with stairs or elevator from workshop room to main room

2:30 - 3:30 PM -- Discussion Groups

*approximate 5 minute walk with stairs or elevator from main room to discussion area

3:30 -4 PM -- MyPCC Help (if needed) in OISS

As soon as possible on your own --

Watch Elective Workshops (not mandatory, no quizzes required)

Advising Appointments:

If you are required to take the Reading & Writing Placement:
- - and you have completed the ALEKS Math Placement Test and forwarded your results to oiss.orientation@pcc.edu, you will sign up for your advising appointment on Monday.
  - and you have NOT completed the Reading & Writing Placement or the ALEKS Math Placement Test and forwarded your results to oiss.orientation@pcc.edu, you will be required to come to PCC Sylvania Campus on Tuesday to complete the placement tests, then you will sign up for your advising appointment afterwards.
If you are not required to take the Reading & Writing Placement:
- - and you are not required to take the ALEKS Math Placement Test, you will sign up for your appointment on Monday.
  - and you are required to take the ALEKS Math Placement Test, you must complete the ALEKS Math Placement Test and forward your results to oiss.orientation@pcc.edu. If you do this by Monday of Orientation Week, you will sign up for your appointment on Monday. If you have not, you will be required to come to PCC Sylvania Campus on Tuesday to complete the ALEKS Math Placement Test, then you will sign up for your advising appointment afterwards.
If you are not required to take any placement:
- - you will sign up for your advising appointment on Monday, unless you are required to come to PCC Sylvania Campus on Tuesday with your documents.

Tuesday, September 10: Placement Testing (if required)

PCC Sylvania Campus, Check in at CC Building Room 215 (Office of International Student Services)

*approximate 5 minute walk with stairs or ramps from parking lot to CC 215Parking instructions & directions to check-in

9:15 AM -- Check-in

*approximate 5 minute walk with stairs or elevator from check in to testing room

9:30 - 12 PM -- Reading & Writing Placement + ALEKS Math Test (If needed - this can also be taken on your own through your MyPCC account prior to Orientation Week)

As soon as possible --

Advising Appointments:

Wednesday, September 11: Zoom Session / Academic Advising Appointment

When you sign up for your academic advising appointment, you will schedule it on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. If your appointment is on Wednesday, you'll join our online workshop on Thursday. If your appointment is on Thursday or Friday, you'll join our online workshop on Wednesday. You will receive an email with the link to join your advising appointment for the day and time you scheduled it. The link to join our Zoom Session is below!

Friday, September 13: Campus Tours, Review of Week & (Optional) Shopping Trip / Academic Advising Appointment

10 AM - 12 PM -- Campus Tour: You will select your campus for our Campus Tour on the Online Check-In Form and receive instructions in your email from oiss.orientation@pcc.edu with the meeting location for your campus.

*approximate 45 minute walk around campus with stairs, ramps, or elevators

12 - 2 PM -- OPTIONAL Shopping Trip: You will have the option to sign up for the Shopping Trip (if you want!) on the Online Check-In Form and receive more information in your email from oiss.orientation@pcc.edu.

*approximate 15 minute walk total to bus stop, from bus stop to store, from store back to bus stop.

Saturday, September 14: (Optional) PSU Farmers Market Trip

11 AM-2 PM -- OPTIONAL PSU Farmers Market Trip: You will have the option to sign up for the PSU Farmers Market Trip (if you want!) on the Online Check-In Form and receive more information in your email from oiss.orientation@pcc.edu.
