About

MIssion

The goal of Family Reunification Day is to celebrate the accomplishments of families who have overcome an array of challenges to reunify safely and successfully, and to inspire other parents that it is possible!

We recognize the vital role that community partners including mental health and substance abuse providers, courts and judges, foster parents, social workers and others – play in helping to reunify, strengthen, and support families. We believe reunification heals families and nourishes those working within the child welfare system.

Family and parent voice is central to our work. Our vision is to  co-create a better child welfare experience by joining parents with lived experience to support positive, long-lasting permanency outcomes.

History

June is a month of celebration for parents who have put in the time, self-reflection, and hard work to reunite with their children. Every year since 2014 partners across Maricopa County come together to celebrate families who have achieved permanency after overcoming the challenges that caused their families to be separated. Since 2014 multiple counties across Arizona have hosted events to celebrate family reunification!
