Brittany McCulloch is in her third year as the Crockett MS Band Director. During her time at Crockett Middle School, the program has grown exponentially from 128 students in the 2020-2021 school year to over 300 this year. The band recently received the UIL Sweepstakes Award and placed 7th in the state in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series Competition and the program had over thirty students earn a spot in the All-Region Band. Prior to coming to Pecos, Ms. McCulloch had been the Director of Bands in Eden CISD. As an educator, she has led the Eden Band Program to two consecutive State Marching Contest appearances, finishing third in 2019. Her bands have received consistent first division ratings throughout her tenure at Eden. The program has consequently grown to over 50% of the student population.
Brittany is a proud graduate of Angelo State University where she earned her Bachelor of Music Education. She was a member of the flute studio under the direction of Dr. Constance Kelly and a member of the Angelo State University Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Daniel McCloud. She is also a graduate of the Angelo State University Honors Program. Brittany currently serves as the Region 6 All-Region Band Coordinator for ATSSB. She is also a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Association of Texas Small School Bands, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Fraternity, and Sigma Kappa Sorority. Her stepson Nolan, 13, lives in North Carolina and she currently lives with her two cats Siri and Alexa.
Russell Taylor is an active clinician and percussion arranger throughout West Texas and has won numerous drumline awards at festivals and drumline competition. He has judged drum-line competitions in Texas and New Mexico and the Caprock Color Guard Circuit. Mr. Taylor has taught ATSSB All State students at Smyer HS, Sudan HS, Brownfield HS and Littlefield HS.
He was the Percussion Caption Head for Horizon Drum and Bugle Corps from Odessa, TX. He was drum captain and head percussion arranger for the Mississippi State University Maroon Band prior to getting an MA degree at Texas Tech University. In addition to his positions as a band director, he has held numerous regional percussion positions including: Lubbock Youth Symphony percussion coordinator, ATSSB region 16 Honor Band percussion coordinator, ATSSB region 6 MS Honor band and HS Hinir Band coordinator.
Mr. Spears is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. He was a member of the Horn studio under the direction of Dr. Andrea Denis and a member of the SFASU Wind Ensemble under Dr. Tamey Anglley. While at SFASU, Coleman served on staff with the Lumberjack Marching Band, conducted the “Roarin’ Buzzsaws” Basketball Pep Band, and worked in the band office. Coleman additionally earned his B.S. in Computer Science at Abilene Christian University, where he played in the Wind Ensemble, marched in the Big Purple Marching Band, and continues to arrange for their annual student production, Sing Song.
In his free time, Coleman love to arrange a wide variety of music, talk all things Disney, and play board games. Coleman is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorority.
Richard Cole will be in his seventh year at PBTISD during the 2022-2023 school year. His responsibilities include the direction of the High School Wind Ensemble, the Mighty Eagle Marching Band, and assisting with the bands at Crockett Middle School. The Mighty Marching Band has performed in the Texas State Marching Championships in 2016 and 2018, and has been named the BOA Class 1A Champion at the West Texas Regional in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The Wind Ensemble most recently ranked 15th in the State Outstanding Performance Series competition with their pieces in 2019. The Pecos Eagle Bands have received consistent Sweepstakes throughout his tenure as Director of Bands.
Prior to becoming the Director of Bands in Pecos, Mr. Cole served as Head director of Crockett Middle School in Pecos, Texas, where he directed the Varsity and Beginning Band. Before that, in his first year of teaching, Mr. Cole served as Head director of Tulia Junior High in Tulia, Texas, where he directed the Varsity, Sub-Varsity, and Beginning Bands.
Mr. Cole attended the University of North Texas where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education in 2015. While at UNT, he studied Trombone with Tony Baker, Jan Kagarice and Carl Lundgren, he also performed as a Trombonist with the Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Williams, and the Trombone Choir under the direction of Mr. Baker. Mr. Cole participated in the UNT Study Abroad, where he traveled to Budapest, Hungary and studied Music education under prestigious directors. Mr. Cole was also a 3 year member of the UNT Green Brigade Marching Band.
Mr. Cole is from Forney, TX, where he graduated from Forney High School. While in Forney, Mr. Cole was a member of the Forney Wind Ensemble, State Finalist Marching Band and Jazz Band. Mr. Cole is a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, the Association of Texas Small School Bands, the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association.
Michelle Whitfill Taylor currently teaches Music at Pecos Kindergarten. She attended Plainview High School where she played oboe and percussion and was a twirler and a member of the rifle corps. Michelle was a four-year all-region oboist and two-year all-state vocalist and earned Division I ratings at State Solo and Ensemble in instrumental and vocal contests. She is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University where she studied choral music education and theatre. While at Wayland, she served as drum major for the Pioneer Marching Band and student conductor for the A Capella Choir.
Michelle has taught for 17 years in a variety of settings and has choreographed and coached guards in West Texas and the Great Plains. She is wife to Russell Taylor and mom to Madeline.
