Roxie Ostlund, LPC 

Roxie works with clients to help them reach their goals using a model of overall health and wellness of the mind, body, and soul.  She works with adults and older teens (16+), drawing on a variety of therapeutic techniques including cognitive behavioral, systems, narrative, solution-focused, interpersonal, and insight theories. She incorporates Christian principles into the therapeutic process for those who prefer to also draw on their faith to help them work through their challenges.  She delights in helping people find hope and healing,  gain new insights, and find new ways of thinking and behaving  in their relationships with themselves and others. Some of Roxie's specialties include couple’s and family relationship issues, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, family of origin issues, grief and loss, self-esteem, sexuality, and trauma. 

Morgan Naar Sutton, LPC 

Morgan has directed her clinical experience towards working with adolescents, adults, and families for over 20 years.  Using a psychodynamic approach with a variety of strategies, Morgan helps clients maximize self-understanding, consciousness awareness, and relationship dynamics to promote the healing of personal trauma, strengthening of relationships, and to encourage lasting change.  Specialties include eating disorders, PTSD, personal trauma, anxiety/panic disorders, phobias, depression, and issues of self-esteem.   Morgan also specializes in working with non-traditional families.

 

James Tavenner, LPC, CAADC

James has 18 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, and families in residential, in-home, and outpatient settings.  His degrees include a Bachelors of Psychology from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from James Madison University.  His specialties are depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use.  His preferred methodologies are cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, EMDR, and solution-focused brief therapy.  James focuses on creating a safe and accepting environment that promotes healing and personal growth, and assists clients in navigating life's most difficult challenges.

Charles Smith, lpc

Charles has 16 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, groups, and families in in-home and outpatient settings.  Charles’ experience ranges from case management, homeless services, psychotherapy, and crisis services.  His degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from James Madison University, and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University.  He specializes in many different areas but most notably are trauma, depression, anxiety, attachment issues, substance use, and psychosis.  Charles’ preferred approaches to counseling includes, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, attachment theory, grief counseling, and a person-centered approach.  Charles uses a trauma informed approach in order to create a healing space that emphasizes personal growth in a caring and accepting environment.  


ERIN UPHAM, LCSW

Erin focuses her clinical attention on working with children, adolescents, teenagers and young adults (ages 5-22). Erin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her Master in Social Work from Monmouth University and has over 8 years of experience serving youth in school, home and outpatient settings. Erin utilizes a person-centered approach when working with her clients to build a safe, supportive and positive environment throughout the course of treatment. She utilizes an array of therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational interviewing, among others. Erin incorporates play therapy techniques into her sessions when working with children to optimize participation and progress towards treatment goals. Erin specializes in treating anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, suicidal ideation and self-harm, adjustment issues, stress management, strengthening emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, relationship issues and more.   

BUFFIE KULTON, ED S

As a Licensed School Psychologist in Virginia, Buffie's primary focus is psychological and educational assessment and evaluation of children and adolescents. She also serves therapy clients from age 16 through 30. Buffie has a bachelor's degree from James Madison University, a master's degree in School Psychology and an Educational Specialist (EdS) degree from Fort Hayes University. In addition, she is a lifelong educator with experience as both a teacher and a school psychologist in the public school setting. This unique background allows  Buffie the opportunity to understand children and young adults from multiple perspectives.  


Buffie's services at Psychotherapy Associates of Winchester include both therapy and psychological / educational assessments. She provides a relaxed, empathetic and safe environment to address client and parent concerns related to the areas of Specific Learning Disability, Intellectual Disability, Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, Depression, Emotional Disability and Developmental Delay and trauma. 


Rachel Bollinger, LPC

Rachel is a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Mennonite University in 2019. She has experience working with teens, adults, families, and groups in a nonprofit organization as well as outpatient settings. Rachel specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment issues, sexual abuse, and domestic violence. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Attachment Theory. Rachel focuses on creating a safe environment that encourages vulnerability and promotes healing and growth. 


Lisa Montagna, Office Manager

Lisa acts as the office manager for Psychotherapy Associates.  Lisa has worked in the medical field for over 30 years in various positions with certifications received in medical transcription, terminology and insurance billing and coding.
