The full rules manual for the 2025-2 Scioly season can be found at https://www.soinc.org/rules-2026 (Division C is high school, Division B is middle school).
Event Types:
Study Events: These events are knowledge-focused and consist of 50 minute long tests on a particular subject such as astronomy, anatomy, or chemistry. Tests are usually a mix of multiple choice, free response, and math questions.
Build Events: Some events involve designing and building a device, robot, or structure that aligns with certain parameters. During the competition, team's builds will be tested and scored.
Lab Events: These events involve performing an experiment, similar to labs in school. The protocol may be given or self-designed as part of the test. Competitors are scored based on their performance in the lab and their analysis.
