Palo Alto Unified School District, as part of the PAUSD Promise, has committed to developing consistent social-emotional learning for students across both district high schools. As we continue to expand the program from year to year, we will be taking into account best practices, current research, and community feedback in order to develop the most effective program possible for our students here at Gunn.
In 2020-2021, a team of current SELF mentors, SELF students and administrators underwent a thorough, months-long review of our existing curriculum. Using a wide variety of resources and perception data (both external and internal), we fully restructured the curriculum to better meet the needs of our students.
Since then, we've collected feedback from students and mentors alike, to produce our newly updated four-year sequence:
