Behavior Check

PHS currently uses SWISuite to check on student behavior for Tier 1 and Tier 2.

      • SWISuite is an information system in which referrals are tracked. Referrals can be filtered by day of the week, time of day, what the referral was for and many other filters.

This allows the Tier 1 team to look at which overall behaviors are an area to focus on so lessons can be developed to teach expected behaviors. The goal to re-teach the expected behaviors are so students know what to expect.

Example of behavior lesson for our Advisory period: R.O.A.R. Lesson

The SWISuite allows Tier 2 team to look at the specific students who may need more intervention and support.

      • For example, if the focus is on defiant behavior, the information system can filter the students who are referred most to the office for that discipline.

      • The Tier 2 team will look at what interventions are available for that student and start implementation of the trying to help the student correct their behavior.

Tier 2 also uses CICO: The program consists of students daily checking in with an adult at the start of school to retrieve a goal sheet and encouragement, teachers provide feedback on the sheet throughout the day, students check out at the end of the day with an adult, and the student takes the sheet home to be signed, returning it the following morning at check in (PBIS World)

Another program used to track tardiness is HERO. This system can also be used to track positive student behavior.

  • Currently HERO is only used for tardies. This system has provided the data need to help reduce overall tardiness at PHS.
