Pharos was a 79’ brig built in Bath in 1823 by Luther Hall, who also served as its captain. It was registered in Boston and at various times was active in the Mediterranean and off the coast of British West Africa. Pharos is also the name of the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, who shares a connection with the Great Library of Alexandria.
