Mass Times

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Greetings!  While I will not officially begin my new role until July 1, 2023, I wanted to take this opportunity to communicate some very important information about the Mass schedule for the entire pastorate which will begin on July 1st.  The Confession and Adoration schedule will be printed in the bulletin before July 1.

You will notice that for some churches in our pastorate there are some significant changes to the Mass schedule familiar to you.  These changes were not made lightly, and they have been discussed with Bishop Hying.

The Sacraments are privileged encounters with the Risen Lord Jesus and through them He confers His grace and divine life.  Sadly, over the past number of decades fewer and fewer people have been seeking Baptism, celebrating Confirmation and Holy Matrimony, going to Confession, and attending Mass.  As such, we have fewer people who are fully alive in Christ.

Also, parishes need to cooperate with one another for the benefit of all. Gone are the days when we can simply be parochial, looking only at the needs of our own people.  Close proximity of churches in our pastorate, in surrounding parishes and dioceses (these are listed on the back of this insert) provides many options for alternate Mass times if needed.  The revised weekend Mass schedule will allow for priest coverage within our own pastorate even if one of the priests is ill, on retreat, or time away with family.  Offertory envelopes can be deposited to the collection basket of the neighboring parish and will be counted toward your registered parish.  Let us continue to pray for each other in this time of transition.

God bless you,

Father John Silva
