Forte is a tight-knit community of talented singers who perform all over the state of California!

We are an auditioned-based performance ensemble filled with students from all different musical journeys. 

Come sing with us! Auditions for the 2024/2025 school year will be held June 3 & 4 after school in room 901. The auditions include a preparation of a short solo, learning and performing a choral piece, and a tone/pitch assessment by the director.

Forte ensemble members are committed to learning and performing complex music at festivals, community events, competitions and our winter and spring concert. 

Forte is a year-long, 7th period class (3:30 - 4:30) in which students receive an honors credit for being enrolled in. 

Forte members can also audition for opportunities like regional and state honor choir, student director, and "The Crimson Collective" which is a small group of elite performers.

An auditioned group of 4-6 singers that perform music in the barbershop and vocal jazz styles. These students are excellent at learning music independently and able to hold their own in four-part harmony.

Gaylene Ewing has been a teacher at PRHS since 2011 and took over the vocal music program in 2020. She has performed in multiple performance group and currently sings for Canzona Women's Ensemble. She has a passion for music as a powerful tool to bring communities together.
