Mrs. Leslie is an ELA teacher and the adviser for the journalism club, combining a passion for writing and reading with a commitment to fostering student creativity and critical thinking. She aspires to foster student voice and leadership skills, both in and out of the classroom.
Emily is a senior at PAHS. She worked with Mrs. Leslie to begin the school's first Journalism Club this year. Emily sees the club as an outlet to inform and entertain the student body while honing young journalists' skills in communication and creativity. In her free time, she enjoys lifting weights, running, baking, and hanging out with friends. After high school, Emily hopes to attend Carnegie Mellon University to obtain a degree in creative writing.
Ava is a senior who enjoys writing about fashion and pop culture news. She plans on studying journalism and fashion media at Kent State. Ava loves having the ability to express her thoughts and sharing her passions with the community.
Avrey is a sophomore and member of the journalism club. She plans to be an English teacher in the future. Within the club, she hopes to use her creativity to share the student voice. Avrey likes keeping up with the latest school events and participating in activities with peers, so journalism was a great fit!
Nathalie is a junior at PAHS. She is a member of the Punxsutawney Area High School Marching band. She joined journalism because she loves to write. Nathalie likes to write, listen to music, play video games, and make jellyfish friendship bracelets. Nathalie’s future plans after high school are to attend IUP to major in English. She plans to become an author, editor, publisher, and work as a script writer for Sega.
Taylor is a senior at PAHS. She is has always wanted to write her own blog and is passionate about self development and “glowing up” to become your best self. She aims to positively reach out to people with and without disabilities in her journalism column. In her spare time, she loves watching YouTube, singing, romanticizing life with a good cup of coffee and most important spending time with friends and family.
Phalen is a freshman at PAHS. As she continues to expand her knowledge in journalism, she not only wants to inform people but understand the different types of diseases she reports on. In her free time, she likes to draw, paint, read, and be with friends and family.
Makila is a sophomore at PAHS. She wants to explore writing and her passion for helping others. She wants to inform and entertain others through journalism. She values others and would love to write more about their well being. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends, reading, spending time with family, and playing with her pets.
