You’ve probably seen the D9 championship plaques outside the cafeteria that wrap around the wall and start down the hallway by the CDMG. Soon, we’ll be adding a new one, with the boys golf team bringing home their sixth title since 2004.

On Monday September 24th, the boys traveled to Brookville to compete in the District 9 AA Team Championship, where they barely beat Clarion-Limestone by 2 strokes.

“Winning the D9 title was a great surprise,” said boys golf coach Joshua Conrad, “I really wasn’t expecting it.”

Conrad has been coaching the boys team for 11 years, with this being his 5th title his team has won for him.

“I was expecting us to get into the tournament, but not to win. Especially not with it being so close there at the end,” said Junior Sean Deeley.

The team will be competing at Regionals on October 11th at the Treasure Lake course. Conrad says the team knows the course well, and that although it will be a challenge given that they are going against very good teams, he knows it will be a good experience for them.

On the individual side of the tournament on September 29th, Ryan Roberts and Zack Van Leer both earned medals and top-six spots. This advances the two to individual regionals on October 15th at Tom’s Run Golf Course in Blairsville.
