Meet Mrs. Reese

I started my musical journey by playing the piano and singing. I didn't start playing the French horn until 8th grade. When I started playing horn, it was like I'd found a best friend; it was the start of a very special relationship that has been going strong for over 40 years!

I have a lot of experience with marching: junior and high school field marching bands at Wilson School District, Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps, and college marching band.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education at Gettysburg College; go Bullets! My Master's degree in Music Education is from Lebanon Valley College.

I've taught in the Frederick County Public Schools in Maryland and played with the Frederick Symphonic Orchestra and the Montgomery County Band. I also taught for the Waverly Community Schools in Lansing, Michigan. For 11 years I did not teach. I worked as an Events Designer and raised my girls, Taylor and Jamie when they were little. I came to Palmyra Area School District in 2006 and taught General Music at Pine Street, Forge Road, and Northside. In 2010, I became the elementary band director for Pine and Forge when Mr. Dan Hoover retired.

I've organized the Palmyra Community Band and directed the PASD high school pit orchestra. I don't direct either of those two ensembles anymore, but I still play in the Perseverance Band of Lebanon. I love making music with my daughters and past students. I enjoy the visual arts almost as much as I love music. My dogs Denali and Moose are the best! I'm a beekeeper and an artisan soap maker. I'm first in line for a thick cheese pizza, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, or dark chocolate-covered pretzels. I'm a sucker for the color plum, do-it-yourself projects, vacationing on a lake in the mountains, spending time with family and friends, listening to my girls practice their instruments, hiking with my husband, playing horn, and sharing my gifts with others.

My passion is to help my students to reach their fullest potential. We'll work hard, and have a lot of fun along the way....it's all part of the journey!
