Guidance lessons are learning experiences led by the school counselor that help children build important life skills such as making friends, managing emotions, solving problems, and exploring future goals. These lessons may be delivered in a variety of ways, including in the classroom, during grade-level sessions, or through school-wide family assemblies. Lessons may vary based on the needs of students and the school's needs.
Topics include, but not limited to the role of the counselor, bullying prevention, drug prevention, fire prevention, college and career awareness, self-control, conflict resolution, personal space, sportsmanship, worry, kindness, and other character traits.
Programs that support the guidance curriculum throughout the year include:
Red Ribbon Week – Promotes drug awareness and encourages healthy choices.
Fire Prevention Week – Teaches safety practices and emergency preparedness.
Start With Hello – Fosters inclusion, kindness, and connection among students.
Unity Day – Highlights anti-bullying efforts and builds a strong sense of community.

Conscious Discipline (safe place, brain states, composure, assertiveness, encouragement, choices, empathy, positive intent, and consequences)
Quaver Social Emotional interactive program to help build skills
PK-4th: skills including self-awareness and decision-making
4th grade: growth and development*
Stand Strong Stay Safe age-appropriate personal safety lessons:
PK-1st : assertiveness, power of kind words, keeping my body safe*, stopping neglect and physical abuse*
2nd-3rd: assertiveness, boundaries & consent, physical abuse*, sexual abuse*, emotional safety
4th: safe relationships, emotional control, handling conflict, stopping abuse*, online safety
