Assignment: After selecting your state, locate an ad placed by someone in your selected state. After reading the ad, answer the following questions:
Who placed the ad?
Who were they looking for?
In what newspaper did they place the ad ?
Where did they believe their missing loved one was located? How do you think they determined this?
Identify at least two interesting details that you noticed in the ad. Why are they interesting?
Is there any language that doesn't make sense or needs to be clarified in the ad? (be specific)

Prompt: We get a story about Tibbs from the official sources. Then we get one, of his own making, from the ad. How does Tibbs' ad help us to understand his experience of slavery, family, and freedom? What does the ad show us that we cannot get from the other sources. To what extent does the ad supplement/change what we know about Tibbs’s life?
You must cite at least six of the sources provided in your argument.
