Henry Tibbs DBQ

For our weekend assignment, we will be completing a document-based question on Henry Tibbs, a former enslaved man.

Prompt: We get a story about Tibbs from the official sources.  Then we get one, of his own making, from the ad. How does Tibbs' ad help us to understand his experience of slavery, family, and freedom?  What does the ad show us that we cannot get from the other sources. To what extent does the ad supplement/change what we know about Tibbs’s life?

You must cite at least six of the sources provided in your argument.

Be thorough.
