Can high school students leave campus to go to lunch?
Students at Memorial are not permitted to leave campus for any reason without being checked out by a parent/guardian through the attendance office.
What is the best way to get connected and be successful in high school?
Attendance is KEY. Turn in every assignment. Set goals and them develop behaviors that match those goals. Challenge yourself academically. Utilize intervention supports. PMHS has a robust advanced academic program, try a course or two. Join a club, sport, or fine arts organization. Take advantage of the wealth of opportunities offered at Pasadena Memorial High School.
How many electives will be in my schedule?
If you are on the main campus your schedule has room for three electives. Electives required for graduation will have a higher priority.
If you are accepted into Early College, you will have AVID and a college course as two of your three electives.
What if my student didn’t choose an endorsement?
Anyone on main campus without an endorsement selected will be placed into the Multidisciplinary endorsement. Students will have an opportunity to change their endorsement at the next course selection period. Placement in a specific program is not guaranteed.
All Early College students will have the Multidisciplinary Endorsement for Dual Credit and will then choose a pathway for San Jacinto College.
How can parents be included in registration?
Parents can review the course selection guide, review any information shared with parents and with students about registration as well as discuss classes and realistic expectations with their child before submitting the spring schedule course verification.
If your student is interested in Early college parents should attend Early College parent nights and review emails from the ECHS counselor and dean after acceptance.
Once I am on campus how to I change my course selections?
After registration there will be an opportunity for course corrections. This is the time to make elective changes.
Schedule changes will not be permitted after completing the spring schedule verification. Teacher need is based on course selections, therefore, schedule changes will only be permitted for the following reasons once schedules are loaded:
· The student is a senior not scheduled in a course needed for graduation.
· The student has already earned credit for a course currently scheduled.
· The student does not meet the prerequisite requirements for the course.
· The student has previously failed the class under the same teacher.
· The student was dismissed from a program where approval must be granted.
My student is on transfer. When will our transfer be approved? Will they get the classes they select during registration?
Transfers get approved at different times through the district office. Once approved, we will do our best to honor requests when the student populates into our system. However, we cannot guarantee that any course will be available for any student. Please ensure students enter two alternate selections on their course request form.
