Sicily, Italy

Today (16.01) started with a trip to "Dante Alighieri High School".  There we were welcomed by the representatives of the school.  The students of this school had prepared educational and interesting presentations about their city "Partanna".  The students of each school, including us, presented the prepared presentations about the traditional games of their country.  A very delicious and warm Italian lunch was also available.  After lunch, we went to the gym of this school to play one of the traditional games of each country accompanied by a sports teacher, it was a very good opportunity to get to know and unite with representatives of other countries.  Then we all went for a walk around the town of Partanna.  We visited the church "Mother church", the museum "Castello Grifeo" as well as various beautiful natural objects.  We had dinner here - at the local pizzeria "Strapizzami" in Partanna.  This day surprised us. It seemed very exciting and fulfilling, so we can't wait for the following events of the week!

On the second day, we drove to the city of Palermo.  At the beginning of the day, we visited the "Palatine Chapel," which is also known as the palace church.  Next, we went to the "Royal gardens," which were located next to the palace church.  It was possible to see impressive plants, such as palm trees and citrus trees.  The next attraction, which is also located near the castle church, was "The revealed Gardens."  There, we saw animals like flamingos, turtles, pelicans, etc.

After that, we walked to Palermo Cathedral.  Next, we walked through the streets of Palermo.  It was possible to see wonderful views.  We saw various architectural objects, mountains, and the sea in the distance.  We entered the local market street.  For lunch, we tasted locally prepared pasta.  Next, the road led us to the "Massimo" theatre.  We learned about the legend of the theatre, and we saw the halls.  After the theatre, we went to "Pretoria" square and visited the "Santa Katerina" monastery.  We climbed to the roof of the monastery and had an amazing view of Palermo.  Next, we walked towards the "Politeama" theatre, where the bus was waiting for us, and we went back to the hotel.

Today started with the fact that we went to the city that was located at the very top of the mountain - Erice.  We toured the castle ruins and the town of Erice itself.  Accompanied by a guide, we had the opportunity to find out the history of the city, as well as many different facts about the city itself.  Next, we went to the city of Trapani.  There we saw the very centre of the city, the sea.  On the way back to the hotel, we visited the salt mining site "Saline di Trapani."  When we returned to the hotel, we went for a perfect dinner in the hotel restaurant.

The morning of the fourth day started with us going to the archaeological park of Selinunte, which is the largest archaeological park in Europe.  We looked at the temples.  Walking through the archaeological park, we passed the Mediterranean Sea.  Next, we went to the museum located in the archaeological park.  There, we saw various vessels, figures, etc. things that archaeologists have found.  After the park, we went to Selinunte restaurant where we tasted the delicious Italian pasta.  In the same restaurant, there was a pilates class where we flexed our muscles and developed our endurance.  Next, we had an hour of free time, which we spent walking around the city.  And then we went back to the hotel.

Today started with the fact that we went to the "Valley of the Temples" archaeological park with a guide.  The guide perfectly and clearly told us about each object and answered all the questions we were interested in.  Next, we visited the archaeological museum.  Various archaeological excavations, ancient painted vases, and ancient coins were seen there.  At the end of the day, we had the opportunity to visit the Sicilian seaside town of Sciacca.  We looked at the city centre, souvenir shops and, of course, the sea - it is always indescribably beautiful.  We went to the sushi bar ` Shiro sushi' for dinner, it was very tasty!

It seems like this week went by incredibly fast, but we managed to see so much!  It was an opportunity not only to see the charming country but also to make new friends, develop language skills, and, of course, get unforgettable memories.  In conclusion, we would like to say how grateful we are that we were given this great opportunity!

Thank you for the great time spent, for the impressions described, the historical message, new friends, and knowledge!  Thanks to Sicily, teachers, and students!
