The Emmaus community is built upon the belief that 'We walk with Jesus' throughout our life. Emmaus draws its name from the Gospel story of the Emmaus journey in which Christ's disciples changed after recognising him in their lives. The school aims at enabling students to change and develop through their education so that they can make a contribution to our society and our Church.
In deciding to continue education at Emmaus, students are committing themselves to their involvement in the full life of the College by:
Recognising the special Catholic character of our school community by participating fully in Religious Education classes, and by appropriately supporting religious activities such as retreats, liturgies and prayers within the school;
Building up school spirit and morale by appropriate support of other members of the school community wherever possible;
Giving and receiving the respect due to every person while recognising fully the differing roles each may have;
Exercising the right to excel at their own level and according to their own gifts, and allowing others the same right. Students will submit assignments, homework and assessment tasks promptly and undertake regular home study;
Being responsible and accountable for their actions and their consequences. Students will be punctual and attend all classes and College endorsed activities;
Displaying self-discipline and College community discipline as the framework within which goals will be achieved and growth towards a responsible and mature adult will occur;
Allowing others to learn from their mistakes, giving them a reasonable opportunity to make a fresh start, and for themselves, learn from mistakes they might make;
Upholding the right of all students and staff to their point of view;
Displaying leadership as a senior pupil, especially whilst travelling to and from the College and whilst proudly wearing the College uniform;
Using study periods in the Library or assigned room wisely in the manner prescribed by the College;
Participating actively in extra-curricular activities such as the Senior Retreat and significant days like Emmaus Day.
