The Bar Model Method
A key mathematical problem solving strategy that uses bars or models to represent a number. It is used to solve word problems by drawing either part-whole or comparison models to represent the quantities given in a word problem. It provides students with opportunities to communicate their understanding of the problem using a visual representation making the understanding of the problem more accessible.
Why NAPLAN?
NAPLAN measures the skills that are essential for every student to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy.
The public demonstration tests show the types of questions students will answer and the functionalities that are available in NAPLAN tests. There are three question-types in NAPLAN: multiple choice, short-answer, and multiple-answer questions.

Year 10 HSC Minimum Standard Tests - NUMERACY
Students need reading, writing and numeracy for everyday life after school.
This is why students in NSW are being supported to meet a minimum standard of literacy and numeracy to receive the HSC.
To show they meet the HSC minimum standard, students need to achieve Level 3 or 4 in short online reading, writing and numeracy tests of skills for everyday life.
