The purpose of this portal is to keep connected with our school community. In our current challenging circumstances, something that is evolving daily, we can feel not only physically isolated but emotionally isolated as well.
Through the establishment of the Holy Family East Granville Connected Learning Portal it is our intention to support our students and parents with access to any help that they need. It will be another way to keep lines of communication open and remain connected.
Under the Contact and Helpdesk tab it is stated that our students will be capable of adapting to a world of change and that they are empowered to bring about a spirit of faith and hope for the future, as they continue to live out our school motto In Christ We Live, Love and Learn. This is so true at this time. The school in particular our teachers, are continually adapting the learning in different formats to engage and promote purposeful learning for their students.
We are LEARNERS
YES we ARE!
Please discuss the following Connected Remote Learning Principles with your child.
ROUTINE - It is important to continue the routine of learning. After breakfast, students should prepare for the learning day ahead by getting dressed for learning and organise a space in which they can work with as little interruption as possible. It's ideal that students are ready to start learning by 9am and finish at 2:30pm, where possible.
ONLINE/OFFLINE - Students will be able to work online or offline, depending on internet availability. 'Hard-copy' work booklets will be available for collection on a weekly basis from the school office and parents will be notified via Skoolbag as to collection times. Virtual online work will be accessed by students through Seesaw or Google Classroom. Teachers will continue to deliver lessons, monitor, track and assess student progress during this period of remote learning. Please note that this will vary for grades K-6. When a task is completed, students should submit via Seesaw/ Google Classroom (unless otherwise instructed by their teacher). If students are unclear on the task requirements, they should contact their teacher through one of the above platforms.
COMMUNICATION & SUPPORT - All students will continued to be supported via Seesaw, Google Classroom and where appropriate, a phone call. We understand that there may be issues with home connectivity and will be mindful of this in order to support students as best we can. Parents can call the school number on (02) 8633 8200 during normal school hours of 8:30am-3:30pm.
CURRICULUM - All lessons delivered will meet NSW syllabus curriculum outcomes. The teachers will plan activities that relate as closely as possible to current class content or skills. The activities will reinforce existing understanding or introduce new content as planned in regular schemes of work. Students will be able to carry out the tasks assigned by teachers independently, including accessing the material.
SUPERVISION - When at home with your child/ren, please monitor and supervise the learning activities, as well as time spent completing school work. It is important for students to construct a timetable to assist with the routine and a healthy life-work balance.
FEEDBACK - Staff will continue to provide feedback to students on their work they submit.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - It is important that students maintain physical activity and a healthy diet on a daily basis for general wellbeing.
