Remote Learning at HFE explained.
Please discuss the following Remote Learning Principles with your child.
ROUTINE - It is important to continue the routine of learning. After breakfast, students should prepare for the learning day ahead by getting dressed for learning and organise a space in which they can work with as little interruption as possible. It's ideal that students are ready to start learning by 9am and finish at 2:30pm, where possible.
ONLINE/OFFLINE - Students will be able to work online or offline, depending on internet availability. 'Hard-copy' work will be available for collection on a weekly basis from the school hall and parents will be notified via Seesaw as to collection times. Virtual online work will be accessed by students through the G Suite of applications. Teachers will continue to deliver lessons, monitor, track and assess student progress during this period of remote learning. Please note that this will vary for grades K-6. When a task is completed, students should submit via Google Classroom (unless otherwise instructed by their teacher). If students are unclear on the task requirements, they should email their teacher.
COMMUNICATION & SUPPORT - All students will continued to be supported via Google Classroom, Gmail, and where appropriate, a phone call. We understand that there may be issues with home connectivity and will be mindful of this in order to support students as best we can. Parents can call the school number on (02) 8869 7200 during normal school hours of 8:25pm-3:25pm.
CURRICULUM - All lessons delivered will meet NSW syllabus curriculum standards. Teachers will plan activities that relate as closely as possible to current class content or skills. The activities will reinforce existing understanding or introduce new content as planned in regular schemes of work. Students will be able to carry out the tasks assigned by teachers independently, including accessing the material.
SUPERVISION - When at home with your child/ren, please monitor and supervise the learning activities, as well as time spent completing school work. It is important for students to construct a timetable to assist with the routine and a healthy life-work balance.
FEEDBACK - Staff will continue to provide feedback to students on their work they submit.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - It is important that students maintain physical activity and a healthy diet on a daily basis for general wellbeing.
