Copyright is about who owns the works and other subject matter that makes up the resources you use. You are the copyright owner of new material you create. As the owner, you either give permission to use the work (creative commons) or you do not give permission (copyright).
If the author gives you permission to use their work, you must attribute that work to them.
If you do not attribute the material to it's creator, you are saying that you made it!
The best way to follow copyright rules is to acknowledge where you get your ideas from by including a bibliography at the end of your work and only using creative commons materials from the internet that you are permitted to use.
Use the slides below to learn how to follow the rules.
