Harvey enters the holiday house and meets Rictus (a frog-looking creature ) who introduces Harvey to his friends. Harvey's parents arranged this for him because he was stressed out. They believe that this holiday house experience will relieve him. So they decided that he could stay there as long as he wanted and to have some fun.
Weird Act: When Rictus says that Harvey is one of the best and funniest kids he has ever seen, Harvey asks Rictus” What about Lulu”? Rictus was trying to change the topic. he looked shocked and said that she was funny and nice but recently she had been acting weird towards everyone in the house. Harvey realizes that in the mornings it is summer in the afternoons it is autumn and in the evening it is spring and in the night is snow.
Mrs. Griffin's cat dies. Also, Harvey asks for a gift for the holiday house, and he gets what he wants: a toy his dad gave him when he was little. Harvey is confused because he did not tell Mr. Hood (an unknown character), but he still gave it. Harvey is suspicious about this house.
Harvey sees someone behind the bushes when goes to the lake. when he looks closely he sees Lulu. Harvey tries to get her attention but she seems not to mind Harvey. When Harvey comes back to the holiday house Harvey sees Lulu there and asks her and she says “Oh sorry I didn’t see u” .in a suspicious way.”
Also, there is a room filled with different types of masks. in the story, they keep talking about the masks. At one point Harvey and Wendell make a mask for themselves. also, jive a new character chases Rictus and tries to kill Rictus but Rictus decides to tell Jive to kill Wendell and Harvey instead.
in chapter 11 Harvey struggles to go out of the holiday house because Harvey is super curious about everything and when he got to know the answers it prevented Harvey from leaving. but he wants to leave the holiday house because he feels unsafe and suspicious about this house. Harvey tells Wendall to meet him in the night to escape but Lulu distracts him not to leave. so the next day Harvey steps inside the mist and he hears Carna ( creepy monster) chase them both (Harvey and Wendell) until they reach the real world
Harvey is relieved that he has reached home and when he knocks on his door an old man opens it with an old lady peeking behind him. Harvey then realizes that every day that he spent there was a year in the real world. so in the real world, Harvey is 32 years ahead.
Harvey's parents want to talk to the police to find this mysterious house that Harvey has been talking about since he came home. even after Harvey drew a picture of the house no one was able to find the house.
Harveys friend Wendell comes running onto his house tears running down telling him how he life changed and how fat his mom was. when Harvey says that his parents went to tell the police Wendell says that that won't work because the house is only searching for kids and especially for us, not grownups. also, no one can find it because no one came out the holiday house alive we were the first ones.
Harvey and Wendell decided to go back to the holiday house to find the mystery that is going on behind it, to figure out who is Mr. hood and to save Lulu from there. Harvey then tries to remember where the mist was so that they can go back.
Harvey realizes that wendell and him created a tree house when they were 5 . sometime wendell and him use to go there to share there secrets to then harvey relizes that when he was escaping from the there house with rctus harvey saw a part of tree near him .
Harvey and wendell run into their back yard and there it was a the mist . and harvey reaches the holiday house and sees all the creatures are alive including karna .
Harvey enters the mist and he is shocked because Mr. Hood is the house so then to defeats Mr. Hood. Harvey remembers that Mr. Hood gives him all the gifts so fast so Harvey wishes for so many things and as fast as he can. Exhausted with Harvey’s wishes his powers are drained Mr. Hood offers for one last wish and he asks me. hood I want all the seasons at the same time. and storms destroy the house. but that's not it Mr. Hood manages to rebuild himself from the debris of the house and Mr. Hood comments on Harvey's courage and calls him the “Thief of always” and gives him a chance to become a vampire with him but Harvey refuses. and mr hood gets sucked up by the lake and all the children come out of his house Harvey and Wendell escape the house and when they go back their parents are back to normal and now there is a park were kids can play were Mr. hood dies. and they live happily ever after. The end
