Citizenship in the Digital Age (6 hours)
In a world where answers are only a click away and media can be shared with ease, it's important to think about the role that these digital tools play in literacy instruction and work. In this session, we will think about the ways that we can teach students to be safe and responsible digital citizens and what can be done as educators to help students manage their own digital footprint.
Citizenship in the Digital Age- Part 2 (6 hours)
**This course is only offered during the school year.
Digital Citizenship is not a one-time lesson or something discussed at a special assembly once a year. Regardless of their age, all of our students’ lives, and ours, are influenced by digital media. Even if you don’t tweet, or snap, or own a cell phone, your life is still influenced by digital media. Because digital media is so influential, even when we’re not online, we’re all digital citizens; as are our students. Instead of isolating digital citizenship, you’re encouraged to model good digital citizenship in every class, every day--even outside of class. Through this course you will also earn a Common Sense Media recognition badge.
