The theme of The Westing Game is that a lot of people are dishonest. Don't trust everyone because a lot of people tell lies. This book develops that at the end, when they found out that a lot of people were hiding things, especially Sam Westing.
Another theme of The Westing Game is overthinking things. Sometimes things are right in front of you, so don't overthink. The book develops this from the middle to the end because they figure out that all the clues were right in front of them, and they were thinking too hard.
Another theme is sadness. Not everything in your life is going to be happy. The book develops this in the middle when Sandy dies, and people get really sad because he was a good person, but they try to realize that these things happen.
Another theme is trust. Trusting people is hard, but try to understand them. This develops in the end when they find out that a lot of people were lying. But everyone had a good reason. They can also trust people because they know they are honest.

The theme of The Westing Game is to be truthful. “The delivery boy was 62 years old, and there was no such thing as Barney Northup”. Since he lied in throughout the book about being someone else, no one could help him to stay alive and do things for him. Barney Northup( Sam Westing, and Sandy) died because people thought Sam was dead, and no one knew to take care of him and help him. If Sam(Barney and Sandy)told the truth to people, saying he was still alive, then he could've stayed \healthier for longer and gotten help to stay alive. Later in the book, they figure out their clues to find out he is someone else and was alive because they all work together. When they all stopped being dishonest and told the truth, they found out the clues were right in front of them. Since in the end they all worked together and started being truthful, they found out the clues. They knew no one murdered anyone because they worked together. If they didn't work together, then they would have never figured out what all the clues meant. So that shows the theme of being truthful about yourself.
