July-August Band Camp Notes
The kids have put together a fun-filled week with a different theme each day. Here's a breakdown of each day's theme:
Monday 28th – Matching Monday
Tuesday 29th – Dress like a Tech Day
Wednesday 30th – Wacky Wednesday (This day is School Schedule pickup day for 10-12th graders. They cannot miss the whole morning block for this, but we will dismiss them from block at the start of their schedule pickup time)
Friday 1st – Power Red (Red shirts) - this one is EXTREMELY important that we have 100% participation. If you do not have a red shirt, please wear *something* red, red shorts, bandanas, get red Powerade (please, no Gatorade for this day), red shoes, red hat, etc. We will be explaining something powerful that day, and it is important we wear Red.
Dig out your change for our upcoming “Penny Wars” which the kids will participate in. How this works: Pennies and dollars are POSITIVE points for sections, silver coins are negative points. The contest takes place the entire week, the section that wins gets to "dress up" the Cabinet and directors at Friends and Family!! Put those random coins laying around your purse or car to good use!!
You can also help your kids earn Spirit Week points for their section by being an informed band parent --
Just reply to this email with a selfie of you and your kid to let the directors know that you're up to date with the weekly emails! Make sure you're on our Slack channel -- directions to earn points will be posted there too!
Help out at Band Camp:
Please check CutTime for volunteer needs for Band Camp. It takes a village to keep the program running smoothly! This Monday is expected to be very hot. If you have a shade tent at home, please bring it in to give the kids an escape from the heat. Thank you so much!
Props Team Wheel Drive:
Our hard working props team is holding their annual wheel drive. The wheels get well used every year, rolling the props on and off the field all season long. If you can, please use this Amazon link to buy some wheels to help them out! Each item is for a pair of wheels, and they are looking for about 10 pairs. Reach out to Justin Kotlarz on Slack or props@parkvistaband.com to let him know what you're contributing and to coordinate a drop-off. Thank you!
Save the Date for Friends and Family Night:
The annual Friends and Family Night will be on August 6. Come out and watch the Friends and Family show to see the results of the kids' hard work during Band Camp and stay for dinner -- all students, staff, friends and family are invited. Stay tuned for more details about this fun tradition.
Band Forms and Spiritwear Update:
All forms and merchandise payments are due ASAP. If you are unsure of how much your merch fee is, please message Marjorie Soffer on Slack or email her at spiritwear@parkvistaband.com and she will let you know.

Have your child put the envelope in the band safe (located in the band room library).
Senior Vinyl Photos for Football Field Fence:
These photos will be taken on Wednesday morning (June 4) starting at 8:30am before the kids have a chance to get hot and sweaty. We will schedule a make-up day if necessary if your senior will not be in band camp that day.
Parent Meeting:
Our 1st parent meeting will be held on Thursday June 5th. We are going to have a pre-meeting with the freshman parents (however anyone is welcome) at 7:00pm and then the rest of the parents can join the fun at 8:00pm to discuss what this year holds.

Our parents help to make this program successful. Please sign up in CutTime for anything you can help with. Freshman parents are welcome to step in -- we always welcome a new set of helping hands. Please email volunteer@parkvistaband.com and we will get you information on what is needed and signed up if you are interested, since you are not in CutTime yet.
Uniform Fittings – We will be having your kids fitted on Thursday the 5th for their new competition uniform top, if your child is unable to attend band camp that day there will be a make-up day on Saturday the 21st at 9:00am so our order can be placed in time for our 1st competition on September 27th at the Boca.
