Week 7

This week, while completing your reading contract during independent time, you will be reading 'The Desert Kaupoi' with either Miss McManus or Miss van den Ende.

Week 6

When you aren't reading with the teacher this week, you will be completing your group's reading contract. A copy is in your group's reading box along with the journal that you need.

Answer the questions on a Google doc. The questions are related to different stories in the journal so make sure you start by putting the story as a heading before putting down the question you are doing as well as the answer.

Week 5

Thursday

WALT: summarise the main points in a text using the 5W's and H.

Group Reading: 'The Parapara Detectives' Level 3 October 2013

Make a copy of 'The Parapara Detectives - Text Summary'. Complete the 5W's and H using details from the text as we read. After reading the text, complete the summary at the bottom.

Week 4

Tuesday

Research an animal whose movements are tracked as they migrate from one country to another (like the starfish from last week's story). Use Google Tour Builder to create a tour that shows their movements around the world with photos and videos.

Thursday

Group Reading: 'Kuaka - The Marathon Bird' L3 Sep 2011 with Miss van den Ende.

'Kuaka: The Marathon Bird - Text Summary' Google doc is in your Reading folder.

Friday

Complete the 'Kuaka: The Marathon Bird - Text Summary' and post it on your blog.

Read at least 5 blog posts and comment on at least 1. Add to the 'Term 4 Reading Blog Posts' Google Sheet in your Reading folder.

Week 3

Wednesday / Thursday

Finish off your 'Epidemic' Google Slide then share 3 things you have learned from the text by creating a blog post.

Friday

Group Reading:

'Spying on Starfish' Connected 4 2012

Complete the 'Animal Trackers Before and After Web' (already in your Reading folder).

Complete the 'Spying on Starfish - Summarising Chart' (already in your Reading folder).
