General Info About Me
I currently teach 7th grade science and am Team Leader for Phoenix Team. I have two children, Anna (5) and Colin (8) and am involved in coaching and volunteering with their local youth sports. At Springhouse, I introduced and run the Robotics Club, the Math 24 Challenge (with Mrs. Kocsis) and fully support and promote a STEM-concept in my classroom. In my free time, I like to run, hike, fish, kayak, camp, go to the beach, listen to music, play with my chocolate lab and watch football. Go Eagles! :)
Education and Work Experience
I have been teaching middle and high school students since 2003. I graduated from Lehigh University with my BA in Mathematics and focus in Earth and Environmental Sciences and M.Ed. in Technology-Based Teacher Education. I have work experience as an engineer intern for PennDOT, research intern at National Renewable Energy Lab, the Summerbridge program of the Lehigh Valley and more. Professionally, in addition to my dedication to a quality STEM education, I am one of SMS's Energy Champ for our Green Team that won our state award for energy efficiency and education in 2017. In addition, I have a M.Ed. in Biology from DeSales University and M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction from Kutztown. I am PA certified to teach Secondary Mathematics, Science, Biology, Environmental Science and have my Supervisory Certificate. I believe that all of these areas help to create the teacher that I am and help me to be able to educate the students in a way that will help them appreciate science and be prepared for their future classes and careers.
