At Parklands College, our Dance Department inspires creativity, discipline, and artistry through Ballet, Tap, and Modern dance. Led by passionate and experienced Dance Educators, our curriculum nurtures learners' technical skills and expressive abilities in a supportive environment, from foundational steps to performance preparation. We focus on developing each dancer’s individual style while fostering teamwork and a deep appreciation for the art of dance. With opportunities for performances, competitions, and tests, Parklands College empowers learners to shine on stage and beyond, building confidence and grace that lasts a lifetime.
Our co-curricular Ballet program, from Pre-Primary 000 to Grade 12, follows the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, offering learners an inspiring journey in classical ballet and skill development.
Our co-curricular Modern program, from Grade 4 to Grade 12, follows the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus, guiding learners on an expressive dance journey.

Sylvie is the Head of the Parklands College Dance Department, bringing over 20 years of teaching experience and a wealth of expertise across Ballet, Tap, and Modern dance. A graduate of the prestigious Waterfront Theatre School, Sylvie holds a Royal Academy of Dance Certificate in Ballet Teaching, a Licentiate in Classical Ballet from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD), and an Associate qualification in Modern and Tap Dance.
Her comprehensive knowledge extends to dance studies, staging, choreography, and dance theory, making her an invaluable mentor and leader in the field. Sylvie’s dedication to her craft continues to inspire her students to achieve excellence in every aspect of dance.
A registered RAD teacher, Licentiate ISTD, and Associate in Modern and Tap dance.
Candice holds a Fellowship qualification in Classical Ballet, a Licentiate in Modern Dance, and an Associate Diploma in Tap from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD), showcasing her exceptional expertise across Ballet, Modern, and Tap. With years of experience teaching at the highest level for the prestigious Waterfront Theatre School before joining Parklands College, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the dance department.
Candice’s skill set extends to dance studies, staging, dance theory, and choreography, where her creative vision and technical mastery inspire students to excel and thrive in their dance journeys.

Amy is a former artist with Cape Town City Ballet, where she performed in over 50 productions since 2014, taking on 14 feature roles, including Cygnets, Fiancées, Giselle Pas De Six, Puss in Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, the Enchanted Garden, and Spring Fairies. She holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Music in Dance (Cum Laude), with triple majors in Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, and Dance Teaching Methods. Amy is also certified in ballet teaching with the RAD and is currently completing her postgraduate certificate in education.
