MIDWEEK MESSAGE
MIDWEEK MESSAGE
Our annual meeting will be on Saturday, November 15, 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Our District Superintendent Rev. Jessica Rooks will lead us in this time. The PDF of the Booklet is available online. We will have copies available on Saturday if you don't want to print it.
At our church conference, we will celebrate how God has blessed us this year. We will also vote on new leadership board members, compensation packages for both clergy members, and other business.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Members of the church are eligible to vote.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Pastor Laura.
We look forward to celebrating and committing to serving God in our community through our church's ministries and groups.
See you then!

Mission Collection
We have some schools in need of basic hygiene supplies for their students, and they asked if we could help!
Please donate things like toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, brushes, pics, combs as well as female sanitary items for the girls, plus NEW socks and underwear for kids up to 8th grade. These will go to help our community students in need.
Drop them off at the church office anytime during the week or on Sunday mornings in the bin outside the Sanctuary doors.
Christmas Outreach
This Christmas season, Parker UMC will be partnering with Parker Task Force once again to provide help to those in need.
We will be collecting socks and underwear for children ages 2-18 and we will also be collecting new toys. Please leave the toys unwrapped and the folks at Parker Task Force will take care of the rest.
Large collection boxes will be set up outside the sanctuary from November 16-November 30.

As we prepare for our Church Conference on November 15, we are seeking information on members who we haven't seen for a while. The proposed 1-Year List contains people who we have attempted to contact this year to learn their desired membership status. The proposed 2-Year List contains people we attempted to contact last year and this year. The people on the 2-Year List will be voted on during the Church Conference to move them to the historical rolls.
If you would like to view printed lists, copies will be available at the Welcome Desk in the Commons area.
If you can provide information on any of the people on these lists, please contact Sarah or Susan Gustin. Thank you!
Our United Women in Faith (UWF) will have a bake sale on Sunday, November 23. Stop by after both services to purchase yummy items.
Bakers -- we need you! Please drop off all baked goods before the first service.
Thank you for supporting UWF -- proceeds will go to missions.
It's that time of year! Time to decorate the sanctuary and church for Advent & Christmas.
We will decorate after worship on Sunday, November 23. Some decorating can happen after the 9:00 a.m. service wraps up, but most of the decorating will be after 11:30 a.m.
All levels of expertise are appreciated!
Many thanks to those who gave us your 2026 Commitments. We are grateful for the ways you are supporting our church and ministries.
If you have not had a chance to do so, please bring your commitment card to church on Sunday and place in the offering basket, or drop by the church office. You can also reach out to Pastor Laura or Sarah.
I am excited to share that of those commitments received, 28 increased their amount over 2025. Additionally, we have received 10 from those who did not make a commitment in 2025 (some are from new members and attenders). This shows that there is excitement with how God is working through Parker UMC. You all are amazing!
For those who have online and ongoing gifts, we still need a Commitment card. If you have any questions about how to update these online gifts for 2026, please reach out to Sarah.
Thank you for supporting Parker UMC with your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness in 2026!
In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 216 in the church. You can also form your own discussion group.
Contact Doug McKinney if you are interested or have questions. We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.
For November 16 worship:
Entertaining Strangers
Scripture: Matthew 25:31-40; Hebrews 6:9-11
Guiding Questions:
In Matthew 25:31–40, Jesus tells us that "when we care for others, we’re really caring for him." What do you think Jesus means by those words? Why do you think Jesus identifies himself with people who are hungry, thirsty, or in need?
Which of the examples that Jesus lists (feeding the hungry, welcoming strangers, visiting the sick or imprisoned) stands out to you most? Why? Who are the “least of these” in your world right now, people who might feel invisible or unwelcome?
Read Hebrews 6:9-11. What does it mean that God “will not forget your work and the love you have shown him”? Why do you think God values how we serve as much as what we do?
Why is it sometimes hard to welcome people who are different from us? How can we overcome that? What’s one way you can “serve Jesus” this week through serving someone else?
Please join us Sunday as we continue discussing Radical Hospitality Rooted in Christ. This Sunday's message is Entertaining Strangers and our scripture readings are Matthew 25:31-40; Hebrews 6:9-11.
9 a.m. Sunday: Blended service with traditional elements and a variety of music including hymns, handbells and choir.
10:30 a.m. Spark! Worship: This service includes contemporary praise music, and an informal style that offers a play area for children, opportunities for you to be involved in service, and the freedom to practice prayer and worship in exciting and personalized ways.
5:30 p.m. 2nd Wednesday of each month: At The Table. We gather around a meal, share conversation and stories of faith, and complete a small mission project.
All requests to add an item to the Midweek should be emailed to Pastor Laura by 6 p.m. on Monday evening.
