MIDWEEK MESSAGE
MIDWEEK MESSAGE
A huge thank you to all who decorated trunks and provided candy for our annual Trunk or Treat event last weekend! We had 29 trunks and over 250 people come enjoy the beautiful weather and show off their fun costumes. Congrats to Kyle and Emily Rogers, and baby Clara, who were voted "Best Trunk" at this year's event!
All youth and their families are invited to our Youth Family Dinner this coming Sunday, November 2, from 5-6:30 p.m. This is a great space for teens and parents of teens to get together, share a meal, and have conversations around meaningful and relative topics as you navigate these teen years.
This month's topic: Compassion and Generosity (helping our youth grow up to be compassionate and generous towards others)
RSVP and Sign Up to Provide Food here.
All are welcome!!
"Your life is a legacy . . . bring your legacy to life." How can you bring your legacy to life and make that happen, especially with regards to your church home?
As you plan your finances, estate planning and your will, be sure to consider leaving part of that legacy to the church.
Join Rev. June Webster for a conversation about the book The Lost Mary: Rediscovering the Mother of Jesus by James D. Tabor.
This in-person & Zoom lunch class will meet Mondays at 12:01 p.m. starting November 10, and have lively discussions about the Virgin Mary – a great way to prepare for Advent and Christmas.
Contact the church office to register and learn more.
55+ Fellowship (formerly known as the Grandparents Group) will be meeting Monday, November 3 at 12:30 p.m. in room 216 at the church.
The group is no longer limited to grandparents - we want to be a warm, social fellowship for those of us who are 55 or over.
Remember to bring your lunch! Beverages and desserts will be provided, thanks to our host Ramona Council.
Please RSVP to Barb Miles (bmilesinco@gmail.com or 612-418-6795), so we know how many to plan for.
We look forward to welcoming you!
Join us for our annual Chili and Mac & Cheese Cook-Off on Sunday, November 9 at 11:30 a.m.!

Mission Collection
We have some schools in need of basic hygiene supplies for their students, and they asked if we could help!
Please donate things like toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, brushes, pics, combs as well as female sanitary items for the girls, plus NEW socks and underwear for kids up to 8th grade. These will go to help our community students in need.
Drop them off at the church office anytime during the week or on Sunday mornings in the bin outside the Sanctuary doors.

Are you or a family member on active military duty? If so, we wish to acknowledge your service members and pray for them. If desired, please add active service members from your family to our prayer list by answering the questions in this survey.
We would also like to recognize any veterans tied to our church community, so we are seeking that information as well.
If you have multiple individuals to list, please fill out and submit another form. Questions? Please reach out to Pastor Laura.
Thank you very much!
Did you know we have over 20 youth at the church every Sunday afternoon attending youth group? Did you know teenagers love to eat snacks? Would you be able to provide individually wrapped snacks for our youth group?
What do youth like to eat? Chips, popcorn, candy, cookies, cupcakes, Little Debbie Snacks, trail mix, fruit, and so much more!
Simply purchase snacks and drop them off to Cody to help bless our amazing youth! If you have questions, contact Cody
As we prepare for our Church Conference on November 15, we are seeking information on members who we haven't seen for a while. The proposed 1-Year List contains people who we have attempted to contact this year to learn their desired membership status. The proposed 2-Year List contains people we attempted to contact last year and this year. The people on the 2-Year List will be voted on during the Church Conference to move them to the historical rolls.
If you would like to view printed lists, copies will be available at the Welcome Desk in the Commons area.
If you can provide information on any of the people on these lists, please contact Sarah or Susan Gustin. Thank you!
In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 216 in the church. You can also form your own discussion group.
Contact Doug McKinney if you are interested or have questions. We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.
For November 2 worship:
God's Extreme Love for Us
Scripture: Hebrews 13:1-2, Revelation 3:20-22
Guiding Questions:
This Sunday is All Saints' Sunday. Who are the saints in your life? Who are the ones who were the example of Christ-like living? Name them and celebrate their impact in your life.
We begin a new sermon series on Radical Hospitality. How would you define hospitality? What does it look like? What is the opposite of hospitality and what does that look like?
Hebrews 13:1-2 reminds us that when we offer hospitality to strangers, we might offer hospitality to angels. When have you welcomed someone and felt like it was just the right thing to do? When have you missed an opportunity and second-guessed yourself?
Revelation 3:20-22 takes us back to our study on Revelation several months ago. In this scene, who is speaking? Who is knocking at the door? From a hospitality standpoint, what door might this represent for us today?
What figurative door might you open this week for someone else? Where might you look for this opportunity?
Please join us Sunday as we begin a new sermon series, Radical Hospitality Rooted in Christ. This Sunday's message is God's Extreme Love for Us and our scripture reading is Hebrews 13:1-2, Revelation 3:20-22.
9 a.m. Sunday: Blended service with traditional elements and a variety of music including hymns, handbells and choir.
10:30 a.m. Spark! Worship: This service includes contemporary praise music, and an informal style that offers a play area for children, opportunities for you to be involved in service, and the freedom to practice prayer and worship in exciting and personalized ways.
5:30 p.m. 2nd Wednesday of each month: At The Table. We gather around a meal, share conversation and stories of faith, and complete a small mission project.
All requests to add an item to the Midweek should be emailed to Pastor Laura by 6 p.m. on Monday evening.
