Feed My Starving Children Fundraiser

Get on your dancing shoes and joy for music to help raise money for Parker UMC's Feed My Starving Children meal-pack in November. Mile High Big Band is performing on Friday, September 20, 7-8 p.m. at Parker UMC.

Come to enjoy the music, and dancing is encouraged. Monetary donations will go directly to supporting packing meals in November (our goal is 100,000 meals) or bring canned food items for Parker Task Force.

Let's help feed those in need!

Sept 29 Worship & Celebration

Sunday, September 29, we will have one worship service at 10 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch in celebration of our Fellowship Hall renovation.

Please bring a main dish, salad, or dessert for our potluck. Brush up on your Bible knowledge as we will play Bible Trivia. There will also be activities for the children.

Let's gather and celebrate!

Story Time

Come for a whimsical story time experience with Noelle! Rally your little dreamers and head over to Fiction Beer Company (19523 Hess Road #103) for an interactive storytelling extravaganza on Friday, September 27 at 4:30 p.m. All ages welcome! Reach out to Noelle for more information.

3rd Grade Bibles

The Great Commission of Jesus is taken seriously at Parker United Methodist Church in many ways.  It would be an honor to give your third-grade child a Bible on Sunday, September 29. This will accompany them into their adult lives and help to remind them of their life in Christ! If you would like your child to receive a Bible, please email Noelle.

Celebrate the Mbokas

The Mboka family joined our community one year ago. Many of us remember when they shared their story with us not long after they arrived.

We are invited to an afternoon of celebration and thanksgiving with them on Sunday, September 22, at Hope UMC (5101 S. Dayton St., Greenwood Village). Food will be served 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. and the celebration begins at 2:30 p.m. (through no later than 5 p.m.).

Mental Health All-Church Training: Sunday, October 6

Join us on Sunday, October 6 from 12-2 p.m. for a congregational conversation called If You Only Knew as we discuss Mental Health, Suicide and Faith with David Galvan, who works for the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Why should you come? It is estimated that 1 in 6 people are suffering with their mental health.  As a community of faith, we have something to offer people – Hope. But how do we talk about mental health, suicide and faith with those who need to hear it?

This conversation is open to all and lunch is provided! Join us for this important conversation and learn how we can continue to be a beacon of Christ-centered hope to our neighbors.

For more information or to RSVP, reach out to Cody

Golf Tournament Update

Many thanks to the 66 golfers, 17 diners and a multitude of volunteers who joined in the fun at our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament on September 9.

Here are the winners of the event:

We raised about $6000 for the Neighbors in Need program at church from the Golf Tournament. Many thanks to our amazing organizing team and volunteers.

We look forward to seeing everyone next year!

Thank You from
United Women in Faith

A big thanks to all of you who brought or bought pies for our recent pie sale. United Women in Faith (UWF) made about $1,000 for mission work. Some of the money goes to our UWF world mission areas, some will be used for mission work here in Colorado, and some for mission work by our church.

Our thanks is accompanied by our prayers of blessings for you.

Adult Sunday School–Fall

All are welcome to join us for Adult Sunday School at 10:30 each Sunday morning in Room 144.  From September 8 - October 13 we will look at our baptismal vows.  What are "spiritual forces of wickedness," anyway?  Questions?  Contact Susan Gustin

Redemptive Compassion Class

Our next Redemptive Compassion Class begins October 6, and continues weekly through November 24. The class will meet at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday with leaders Doug McKinney, Mark and Lisa Jackson, and Ron and Leah Wyckoff.

Redemptive Compassion is an 8-week study guide offering a biblical perspective on how the church is called to holistically help people in need. 30 different concepts explore how God has called us to love and serve our neighbors.

Contact the church office for more information. May this be a great opportunity for you to consider how to help people in need.

September Focus on Mental Health & Faith

We are a church that wants to promote good health. That includes good mental health.

Our September sermon series is Not Alone: Mental Health and Faith. We will address issues that are familiar to many of us, looking for wisdom from scripture -- burnout, depression, fear, anxiety, creating community.

During this series, one of these may affect you in unexpected way. We have Stephen Ministers available to talk if you need someone to help process what you experience. Stephen Ministers will be available each Sunday (up front by the altar rails) or you can contact the church office and we will get you connected.

Faith Talk Questions

In preparation for Sunday worship, we will provide 3 questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. We hope this will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.

For September 15 worship:

This Sunday's Service

Please join us this Sunday for our series, Not Alone: Mental Health and Faith. This Sunday is Anxious and Afraid (fear and anxious thoughts). The scripture readings for this Sunday are Exodus 3:10-14; 4:1-5, 10-13 and Matthew 6:25-34.
