We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.
For August 16 Sunday worship:
This week's sermon: Celebrate Promise
Scripture: Romans 4:3, 13-25
Guiding Questions:
How would you define promise? What is it and what isn't it?
To describe a Biblical promise, Paul uses Abraham as an example. What do you remember about Abraham's story? What is the promise God made to Abaham?
Paul also uses the words righteousness and faith. How would you describe these words? Perhaps faith is easier to define than righteousness, but take a stab.
What promises come to mind when you think of Jesus? What are we promised? Hint: consider the words faith and grace.
Perhaps these questions feel like an English class. How do you think of God working through your life in terms of faith and grace? What gives you comfort?
Please join us this Sunday for our four week series Celebrate. This Sunday's message is Celebrate Promise and our scripture reading is Romans 4:3, 13-25.
