The beginning of another school year is quickly approaching, and we want to pray a blessing over our students, teachers, administrators and support staff.  Join us in worship for the Blessing of the Backpacks on Sunday, August 9 at the 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. services as we invite all to come forward and pray a blessing over this school year.

Let's come together to support children in our community. Many kids lack essential school supplies, and we can make a difference by ensuring every child has the tools they need to succeed.

We will collect school supplies every Sunday through August 16 and need your help! Pick up items from this list and drop them off at the church, or order online and have them shipped directly.

Join CrossRoads Gospel Band for a FREE anniversary concert on Sunday, August 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Parker UMC. Experience an afternoon of inspiring Southern Gospel favorites as CrossRoads celebrates three decades of sharing the love of Christ through music. Bring your friends and family!

Join us At The Table on Wednesday, August 12 from 5:30-7 p.m. At The Table, we share a meal, have a conversation about life and faith, and do a mission project together.  

This month's mission is packing School Bags for our local students and schools in need.

Want to have fun, play games, and sing? Then join the Children's Choir. Geared towards children kindergarten through 5th grade, we practice September - April immediately following the 9 a.m. service from 10:00-10:20 am. Build fellowship and friends while having fun and making music!

Do you love to have fun, learn, make music, and worship God? Our handbell group is open to 5th grade through high school students. Any level of musician is welcome but having fundaments is helpful. Practice is Monday evenings, 6 - 7 p.m., from September to April. This handbells group will perform in worship 4 times a year.

Each Sunday after the 9 a.m. worship service, join the class Connections: Weaving Worship to Life, in room 144 from 10:30 - 11:30 am.

This is an open and welcoming drop-in class where you can reflect on the sermon and worship experience, share insights, ask questions, and discover how God's Word connects to everyday life.

Have you been wondering how you can be involved at Parker UMC and give back?  We need YOU! 

We are looking for volunteers to serve as ushers on the 2nd Sunday of each month! Ushers play an important role in welcoming people, helping everyone feel comfortable, and assisting during worship services. It’s a simple but meaningful way to serve and help create a warm and inviting atmosphere for our church family and guests.

This mobile pack event is open to the community. Share with your family & friends, community groups, and others. You can volunteer to help pack meals that will feed starving children and bring the gospel to children around the world who are in need.

The Front Porch: Real Talk for Faith in Real Life is a drop-in class for busy parents and all adults navigating the everyday chaos of work, family and faith. We will talk honestly about what it looks like to live our faith on ordinary weekdays, not just on Sunday mornings. The topics and facilitators will rotate. 

Topics for the first 5 weeks: Finding Peace in the Chaos; Talking to God When Life is Loud; What if Doing Nothing is Faithful; Finding Our Story in God’s Story; Relationships: Created for Connection. Who Wrote the Bible? is an engaging study based on Dr. Joel S. Baden's course "Who Wrote the Bible?  It explores the origins, authorship, and development of the Biblical books. Together, we will examine how scripture came to be and how it has been understood through the centuries.

Each week will focus on a different topic from Baden's course, making it easy to drop in and join the conversation; even if you haven't attended other sessions. The topic on August 16 is “Who Wrote the Bible? Texts that didn't make it into the Bible” facilitated by Rev. June Webster. The topic on August 23 is “Who Wrote the Bible? This past summer, our youth had 2 amazing mission trip experiences. Pastor Laura also had a great trip to Kenya. The Youth and Pastor Laura would like to share about what we experienced and what we learned.

Our altar flowers each week are given in honor or memory of someone. We usually have one arrangement each Sunday. The church office orders from our vendor, Little Shop of Flowers. You do not need to contact our vendor directly; we handle it.

Are you 50-80+ and love to sing? Join the 5280 Senior Chorales at Parker on a musical journey this fall that celebrates the transition of the seasons and the joy of the holidays.

Rehearsals are each Wednesday, 12 - 2 p.m., in the Parker UMC sanctuary, September 2 - November 4.

Join this fun, challenging and fulfilling 10-week program by registering online and select PARKER under the JOIN US / REGISTER tab. Registration deadline is September 9 and Registration Fee is $175.

In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 216 in the church. 

We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.

• Scripture: Ephesians 4:1-16

• Guiding Questions:

1. Think of a team, family, or group that worked really well together. What made that unity possible? When have you experienced genuine Christian unity, even among people who were very different from one another?

2. This week we talk about celebrating the gift of unity.  What is your definition of unity. How do unity and diversity work together? 

3. Read Ephesians 4:1-16. Ephesians lifts up seven different ways to promote unity. What are they? How do you experience unity in the church? What is one quality that you would work on in yourself? How might that help create more unity in the faith community?

4.  How do you respond when you disagree with someone in the church? What helps disagreements become opportunities for growth instead of division? Why does unity require so much effort? 

5. What is one practical way our church can celebrate diversity while strengthening unity? Why is it important to celebrate both?

Please join us this Sunday for our four week series Celebrate. This Sunday's message is Celebrate Unity and our scripture reading is Ephesians 4:1-16.

• 9 a.m. Sunday: Blended service with traditional elements and a variety of music including hymns, handbells and choir.

• 10:30 a.m. Spark! Worship: This service includes contemporary praise music, and an informal style that offers a play area for children, opportunities for you to be involved in service, and the freedom to practice prayer and worship in exciting and personalized ways. 

• 5:30 p.m. 2nd Wednesday of each month: At The Table. We gather around a meal, share conversation and stories of faith, and complete a small mission project.
