The beginning of another school year is quickly approaching, and we want to pray a blessing over our students, teachers, administrators and support staff. Join us in worship for the Blessing of the Backpacks on August 10 at the 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. services as we invite all to come forward and pray a blessing over this school year.
Then join us on Sunday, September 7 from 11:30-1:30 for Fall Fest, our fun kickoff to the school year with food trucks, large inflatable slides, a car show, and more!
Let's come together to support children in our community. Many kids lack essential school supplies, and we can make a difference by ensuring every child has the tools they need to succeed.
We will collect school supplies every Sunday through August 10 and need your help! Pick up items from this list and drop them off at the church, or order online and have them shipped directly.
Confirmation will begin soon for our youth 6th grade and older who are looking to dive deeper into their faith, ask the tough questions, wrestle with doubt, and find out more about this thing called Methodism. This is an important step in the faith development for our youth. This is also a path for youth to become members of the church.
To find out more information, including the dates of classes, or to register your youth, please email Cody.
6th and 7th grades is a pivotal moment for our youth, as they begin the journey in our youth ministry program, and we want to set them and you (their parents and guardians) up for success and show you all the amazing opportunities ahead to grow in community and faith.
Join us on Sunday, August 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the commons area for your Youth Orientation with Pastor Cody and Miss Noelle to ask your questions and learn about our youth ministry. All 6th and 7th graders are invited along with their parents and guardians!
If you have questions, please email Cody.
Join the adult Sunday School class that meets each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for a new study on Lee Strobel's The Case for Faith. This will be a great opportunity to discuss the hard questions and objections people have about Christianity. Mike Thomas will lead this DVD series over the next several weeks.
With planned staff vacations, and summer meetings, our staff may not be available when you stop by the office. If you need to meet with someone or need help getting into the building, please call ahead to the church office at 303-841-3979 or email the staff person (firstname@ parkerumc.org) to make sure they are available. Thank you for your understanding during this busy season!

Our 9-Hole Golf Event and Dinner has been a great success over the past couple of years. However, the silent auction is one way that it is successful in supporting our church's ministries. Sponsors are another important part of this event.
Are you part of a business or organization that would be interested in sponsoring this event? There are several ways sponsors will be acknowledged during the event. Please speak with Pastor Laura if you have any connections.
We are looking for donations for the silent auction. Do you have any larger ticket items (a stay at a mountain home, etc.) that could be used in our silent auction? Is there something you can offer? Please speak with Pastor Laura for more information.
We appreciate your help in making this 3rd tournament dinner and silent auction an even greater success!
The Rotary Club of Parker is once again offering luscious Colorado peaches and pears from Palisade. When you order from Rotary, you can specify that the club share the proceeds with our church. The money that is raised from the peach sales will go to support our youth activities.
Peaches -- 18# box -- $48
Peaches -- 9# box -- $33
Pears -- 9# box -- $33
Click here to place your order and pay online. The deadline to order is August 10.
The pick-up date is Saturday, August 23 between noon and 2:30 p.m. in the Planet Fitness parking lot (SW corner of Parker Road and Main Street). Any orders that are not picked up at that time will be donated.
If you have any questions, please contact Susan Gustin. Thank you for supporting Parker UMC's youth and the community service projects of the Rotary Club of Parker!
In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10am at the Parker Panera. You can also form your own discussion group.
Contact Doug McKinney if you are interested or have questions. We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.
For August 3 worship:
How To Train Your Dragon
Scripture: Matthew 5:1-11 and Romans 12:1-2, 9-21
Guiding Questions:
Matthew 5:1-11 is called The Beatitudes. As you read this passage this week, imagine you are reading it for the first time. What is the main message you get from it? How different does it sound from life in 2025?
If you took Matthew 5:1-11 seriously, what might you change in your life?
Romans 12 is another familiar scripture passage. Again, read this as if for the first time. What jumps out at you? What is challenging for you?
Our movie this week centers around Hiccup, a young adult Viking in Berk that is in a battle with dragons. The people of Berk have assumptions about dragons, of course. But they also have assumptions about Hiccup. When have people had assumptions about you? What where these assumptions based on? How did these assumptions affect you?
Please join us Sunday as we continue our Summer sermon series, Movies with a Message. This Sunday's movie is How To Train Your Dragon; our scripture readings are Matthew 5:1-11 and Romans 12:1-2, 9-21.
9 a.m. Sunday: Blended service with traditional elements and a variety of music including hymns, handbells and choir.
10:30 a.m. Spark! Worship: This service includes contemporary praise music, and an informal style that offers a play area for children, opportunities for you to be involved in service, and the freedom to practice prayer and worship in exciting and personalized ways.
5:30 p.m. 2nd Wednesday of each month: At The Table. We gather around a meal, share conversation and stories of faith, and complete a small mission project.
All requests to add an item to the Midweek should be emailed to Pastor Laura by 6 p.m. on Monday evening.
