The 55+ Fellowship will gather for breakfast on Monday, August 3, at 9:00 a.m. at Diana and Frank Hill's home. Please bring a dish to share.

The beginning of another school year is quickly approaching, and we want to pray a blessing over our students, teachers, administrators and support staff.  Join us in worship for the Blessing of the Backpacks on Sunday, August 9 at the 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. services as we invite all to come forward and pray a blessing over this school year.

Let's come together to support children in our community. Many kids lack essential school supplies, and we can make a difference by ensuring every child has the tools they need to succeed.

We will collect school supplies every Sunday through August 16 and need your help! Pick up items from this list and drop them off at the church, or order online and have them shipped directly.

Join CrossRoads Gospel Band for a FREE anniversary concert on Sunday, August 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Parker UMC. Experience an afternoon of inspiring Southern Gospel favorites as CrossRoads celebrates three decades of sharing the love of Christ through music. Bring your friends and family!

Want to have fun, play games, and sing? Then join the Children's Choir. Geared towards children kindergarten through 5th grade, we practice September - April immediately following the 9 a.m. service from 10:00-10:20 am. Build fellowship and friends while having fun and making music!

Do you love to have fun, learn, make music, and worship God? Our handbell group is open to 5th grade through high school students. Any level of musician is welcome but having fundaments is helpful. Practice is Monday evenings, 6 - 7 p.m., from September to April. This handbells group will perform in worship 4 times a year.

Each Sunday after the 9 a.m. worship service, join the class Connections: Weaving Worship to Life, in room 144 from 10:30 - 11:30 am.

This is an open and welcoming drop-in class where you can reflect on the sermon and worship experience, share insights, ask questions, and discover how God's Word connects to everyday life.

Have you been wondering how you can be involved at Parker UMC and give back?  We need YOU! 

We are looking for volunteers to serve as ushers on the 2nd Sunday of each month! Ushers play an important role in welcoming people, helping everyone feel comfortable, and assisting during worship services. It’s a simple but meaningful way to serve and help create a warm and inviting atmosphere for our church family and guests.

This mobile pack event is open to the community. Share with your family & friends, community groups, and others. You can volunteer to help pack meals that will feed starving children and bring the gospel to children around the world who are in need.

The Front Porch: Real Talk for Faith in Real Life is a drop-in class for busy parents and all adults navigating the everyday chaos of work, family and faith. We will talk honestly about what it looks like to live our faith on ordinary weekdays, not just on Sunday mornings. The topics and facilitators will rotate. 

Topics for the first 5 weeks: How to weave prayer into a chaotic life; Mindfulness; What if doing nothing is faithful; The Bible and including our story in God's story; and Relationships. Childcare is provided in the nursery and children's Sunday school

Who Wrote the Bible? is an engaging study based on Dr. Joel S. Baden's course "Who Wrote the Bible?  It explores the origins, authorship, and development of the Biblical books. Together, we will examine how scripture came to be and how it has been understood through the centuries.

Each week will focus on a different topic from Baden's course, making it easy to join the conversation even if you haven't attnded other sessions. Sessions will include a presentation of the week's topic as well as a small-group discussion; providing opportunities to learn, ask questions, and deepen your understanding of the Bible in a welcoming setting.

Sundays, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. in room 138, beginning August 16.

Our altar flowers each week are given in honor or memory of someone. We usually have one arrangement each Sunday. The church office orders from our vendor, Little Shop of Flowers. You do not need to contact our vendor directly; we handle it.

In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 216 in the church. 

We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level. 

For August 2 Sunday worship:

• This week's sermon: Celebrate Diversity

• Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12-20

• Guiding Questions:

1. In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul begins by talking about spiritual gifts. Verses 4-11 remind us that each of us is gifted, but not all have the same gifts. What does it mean that we are different from one another? That some of us are gifted in one way, and others in another way?

2. Verses 12-20 compare the community with a body, a human body. How does this image make sense to you, that we are individuals but part of the large whole or body? How might this image lead to more confusion?

3. The title of the sermon is Celebrate Diversity. How does the word, diversity, describe the community as a whole? Ho might this word be challenging or even misunderstood?

4. At the core of the concept of diversity is that difference is expected and valued. Consider a situation in your life when someone had gifts or talents that you did not. What was the blessing? What was challenging about this?

5. How might God be calling you to celebrate diversity?

Please join us this Sunday for our four week series Celebrate. This Sunday's message is Celebrate Diversity and our scripture reading is 1 Corinthians 12:12-20.

• 9 a.m. Sunday: Blended service with traditional elements and a variety of music including hymns, handbells and choir.

• 10:30 a.m. Spark! Worship: This service includes contemporary praise music, and an informal style that offers a play area for children, opportunities for you to be involved in service, and the freedom to practice prayer and worship in exciting and personalized ways. 

• 5:30 p.m. 2nd Wednesday of each month: At The Table. We gather around a meal, share conversation and stories of faith, and complete a small mission project.
