MIDWEEK MESSAGE
Last Chance!! Register Now for VBS
On June 29 - July 2, kids will step through the mist into Rainforest Falls, overflowing with wild waterfalls, towering trees, and colorful creatures. Beneath a canopy of chattering birds and howling monkeys, kids plunge into a lifelong adventure of discovering the nature of God. They’ll explore what it means to be rooted in relationship with God, their creator, a safe place in life’s storms. We are now taking registrations for participants and volunteers. Click here to register or email Noelle for more information.
Help Decorate the Church for VBS
Next week kids plunge into a lifelong adventure of discovering the nature of God. Can you help decorate the church to spark the imagination of kids? No experience or supplies needed, jobs range from removing Bibiles from pews to hanging backdrops. We will gather after the Spark! Service on Sunday, June 28 around 11:30 to transform the church into a rainforest. No RSVP needed; email Noelle for more information.
Snack Donations for VBS
On June 29 - July 2, kids will step through the mist into Rainforest Falls VBS. An adventure this large requires a lot of volunteers. We anticipate about 75 volunteers will be sharing God's great big love with about 150 (or more) children! An easy way to say thank you to the hard-working volunteers is to feed them. We are collecting snack foods to fuel the helpers. We take easy snack items such as chips and cookies and also appreciate fruit, water bottles and frozen appetizers for a hot treat. Please consider donating snacks; we are already accepting donations. For questions or more information email Noelle .
July 4th Weekend
The church office will be closed on Friday, July 3, to observe the July 4th holiday.
There will be one worship service at 10 a.m. on July 5.
We will open our parking lot for vehicles to watch the July 4th Fireworks that begin at 9:30 pm. Our parking lot is the perfect place to watch the July 4th fireworks, and we need your help! We are looking for a great team to offer hospitality, either parking lot attendees or people to just walk around and get to meet our neighbors. We would love for you to come and join the fun and offer your love and kindness as we open up our church to our community.
To volunteer to help or to find out more information, email Cody.
For any emergencies, please contact Pastor Laura.
Adult Sunday Class
Each Sunday after the 9 a.m. worship service, join the class, Connections: Weaving Worship to Life, in room 144 from 10:30 - 11:30 am.
This is an open and welcoming drop-in class where you can reflect on the sermon and worship experience, share insights, ask questions, and discover how God's Word connects to everyday life.
Have question? Reach out to Greg Young.
Ushers Needed
Have you been wondering how you can be involved at Parker UMC and give back? We need YOU!
We are looking for volunteers to serve as ushers on the 4th Sunday of each month! Ushers play an important role in welcoming people, helping everyone feel comfortable, and assisting during worship services. It’s a simple but meaningful way to serve and help create a warm and inviting atmosphere for our church family and guests.
If you would be willing to help or would like more information, please contact Pastor Cody.
Summer Office Hours
With upcoming mission trips, planned staff vacations, Vacation Bible School and summer meetings, our staff may not be available when you stop by the office. If you need to meet with someone or need help getting into the building, please call ahead to the church office at 303-841-3979 or email the staff person (firstname@ parkerumc.org) to make sure they are available. Thank you for your understanding during this busy season!
Company is Coming! The Grounds Team Needs You
We will have visitors to our church the week of June 29 for VBS and then again on July 4th to watch the fireworks. We want our property to look inviting for our guests.
Consider adopting an area of the church landscape to keep free of weeds this summer. Then please pull those weeds before June 29!
Questions? Reach out to Mike Droll.
Thanks for helping our grounds be welcoming to all.
Did You Know About the Endowment Fund?
Did you know that Parker UMC has an Endowment Fund? Our Endowment Fund is invested through the Mountain Sky Conference and is designed to help you leave a lasting legacy that can benefit this church for generations to come.
Whether your hopes are for the physical facility, or perhaps you want to provide for special ministries that this church can pursue into the future, we invite you to learn more about the Parker UM Endowment Fund. Check out the brochures on the Welcome Desk or reach out to Pastor Laura.
Sign Up for 2026 Altar Flowers
Our altar flowers each week are given in honor or memory of someone. We usually have one arrangement each Sunday. The church office orders from our vendor, Little Shop of Flowers. You do not need to contact our vendor directly; we handle it.
If you are interested in ordering flowers, please fill out the Sign Up Genius for 2026 here. You can also email or speak with Candi in the church office. Cost is $50 per arrangement.
Please speak with Candi Robinson if you have any questions.
Thanks for beautifying our altar table!
In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 216 in the church.
We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.
For June 28 Sunday worship:
This week's sermon: Esther the Brave
Scripture: Psalm 138, Esther 3:13; 4:13-17
Guiding Questions:
Read Psalm 138. The psalmist gives thanks to God in a variety of ways and in a variety of circumstances. The last 2 verses show praise to God even when the psalmist is in the midst of trouble. Think of a difficult time in your life. What was your first response -- to praise God, to question God, to yell at God, or some other response? How might choosing to praise God in the midst of trouble change you?
Esther is one of those Biblical books that reads like a short story. What do you remember about her story? We encourage you to read all 10 chapters, or at least the first 5 to get a broad understanding of Esther and her importance.
In Esther 3:13, we hear of the king's command to destroy Jews in the land. Esther was a Jew. What is abhorrent about this verse, especially knowing that Esther was the king's queen (Esther 2)?
In Esther 4, Mordecai shares with Queen Esther the plot Haman hatched in order to get the King to destroy the Jews and asks her to intervene. Read Esther 4:11 to understand why she hesitates. What would your response be, knowing what Esther knows?
The most famous passage is 4:14 -- for such a time is this. What does that phrase say about Esther and her calling? Consider a time in your life that this phrase could apply to you. How did you respond? What questions linger even today?
Please join us this Sunday as we continue the sermon series Heroes of the Faith. This Sunday's message is Esther the Brave and our scripture reading is Psalm 138, Esther 3:13; 4:13-17.
