MIDWEEK MESSAGE
Register Now for VBS
On June 29 - July 2, kids will step through the mist into Rainforest Falls, overflowing with wild waterfalls, towering trees, and colorful creatures. Beneath a canopy of chattering birds and howling monkeys, kids plunge into a lifelong adventure of discovering the nature of God. They’ll explore what it means to be rooted in relationship with God, their creator, a safe place in life’s storms. We are now taking registrations for participants and volunteers. Click here to register or email Noelle for more information.
Snack Donations for VBS
On June 29 - July 2, kids will step through the mist into Rainforest Falls VBS. An adventure this large requires a lot of volunteers. We anticipate about 75 volunteers will be sharing God's great big love with about 150 (or more) children! An easy way to say thank you to the hard-working volunteers is to feed them. We are collecting snack foods to fuel the helpers. We take easy snack items such as chips and cookies and also appreciate fruit, water bottles and frozen appetizers for a hot treat. Please consider donating snacks; we are already accepting donations. For questions or more information email Noelle .
Office Closed This Friday
The church office will be closed this Friday, June 19, in recognition of Juneteenth. For any emergencies, please contact Pastor Laura.
July 4th Weekend
The church office will be closed on Friday, July 3, to observe the July 4th holiday.
There will be one worship service at 10 am on July 5.
We will open our parking lot for vehicles to watch the July 4th Fireworks that begin at 9:30 pm. Our parking lot is the perfect place to watch the July 4th fireworks, and we need your help! We are looking for a great team to offer hospitality, either parking lot attendees or people to just walk around and get to meet our neighbors. We would love for you to come and join the fun and offer your love and kindness as we open up our church to our community.
To volunteer to help or to find out more information, email Cody.
For any emergencies, please contact Pastor Laura.
Help Fold Sunday Bulletins
Want to help every once in a while?
We are looking for a few substitutes that would be available on a Thursday afternoon or Friday to fold bulletins when our regular volunteers are not available.
This summer we are looking for volunteers on June 25-26, July 2 and July 9-10. Please let Pastor Laura know if you are available on any of those dates.
Thanks for pitching in when needed!
Adult Sunday Class
Each Sunday after the 9 am worship service, join the class, Connections: Weaving Worship to Life, in room 144 from 10:30 - 11:30 am.
This is an open and welcoming drop-in class where you can reflect on the sermon and worship experience, share insights, ask questions, and discover how God's Word connects to every day life.
Have question? Reach out to Greg Young.
Summer Office Hours
With upcoming mission trips, planned staff vacations, Vacation Bible School and summer meetings, our staff may not be available when you stop by the office. If you need to meet with someone or need help getting into the building, please call ahead to the church office at 303-841-3979 or email the staff person (firstname@ parkerumc.org) to make sure they are available. Thank you for your understanding during this busy season!
Company is Coming! The Grounds Team Needs You
We will have visitors to our church the week of June 29 for VBS and then again on July 4th to watch the fireworks. We want our property to look inviting for our guests.
Consider adopting an area of the church landscape to keep free of weeds this summer. Then please pull those weeds before June 29!
Questions? Reach out to Mike Droll.
Thanks for helping our grounds be welcoming to all.
Sign Up for 2026 Altar Flowers
Our altar flowers each week are given in honor or memory of someone. We usually have one arrangement each Sunday. The church office orders from our vendor, Little Shop of Flowers. You do not need to contact our vendor directly; we handle it.
If you are interested in ordering flowers, please fill out the Sign Up Genius for 2026 here. You can also email or speak with Candi in the church office. Cost is $50 per arrangement.
Please speak with Candi Robinson if you have any questions.
Thanks for beautifying our altar table!
In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 216 in the church.
We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.
For June 21 Sunday worship:
This week's sermon: Lydia the Businesswoman
Scripture: Psalm 119:30-35, Acts 16:11-15, 40
Guiding Questions:
Read Psalm 119:30-35. The psalmist says, "I have chosen the way of faithfulness." Faithfulness is described here as a choice, not just a feeling. What does it look like to choose faithfulness on the days when it does not feel natural or easy?
Read Acts 16:11-15, 40. Lydia was already a worshipper of God before Paul arrived. She was seeking, even before she fully knew what she was seeking. Have you ever been in a season of spiritual seeking like that? What were you looking for, and what did you find?
Lydia was a businesswoman, a dealer in purple cloth, which meant she was likely wealthy and influential. How do you think her gifts, her resources, and her position shaped the way she lived out her faith? What gifts and resources do you have and how do your own gifts and resources shape how you live out faith?
At the end of Acts 16, after Paul and Silas are released from prison, they go straight to Lydia's house, where the believers are already gathered. Lydia's home has become the first church in Europe. What do you think it means to make your home, your table, or your space a place where the church gathers?
Lydia was a woman, a foreigner, and a businessperson, not the typical profile of someone who would be used to launch a movement. What does her story tell us about who God chooses to use and how?
Lydia chose the way of faithfulness and then immediately put that faithfulness into action. What is one concrete, practical way you want to put your faith into action this week?
Please join us this Sunday as we start a new sermon series on Heroes of the Faith. This Sunday's message is Lydia the Businesswoman and our scripture reading is Psalm 119:30-35, Acts 16:11-15, 40.
