Please join us Sunday, May 3, as we celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Ordination of Women in The United Methodist Church. We will honor our current ministers and their ministries. Church Grounds Team Needs You
Did you know our church grounds are maintained by volunteers? We have 2 ways YOU can help:
Help at our annual Spring Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 16, 8 - 11:30 a.m.
Adopt an area of the church landscape to keep free of weeds this summer.
Stop by the Grounds Committee table between services over the next few weeks to sign up and/or ask questions.
Thanks for helping our grounds be welcoming to all.
Last Chance, Seniors - Youth Scholarship Application
The PUMC Endowment Team reminds high school seniors who have been active in our church and who are going on to higher education to submit a Scholarship Application by April 30, 2026. Register Now for VBS
Kids will step through the mist into Rainforest Falls, overflowing with wild waterfalls, towering trees, and colorful creatures. Beneath a canopy of chattering birds and howling monkeys, kids plunge into a lifelong adventure of discovering the nature of God. They’ll explore what it means to be rooted in relationship with God, their creator, a safe place in life’s storms. We are now taking registrations for participants and volunteers. Click here to register or email Noelle for more information.
Preteens Group
Our last Preteens gathering will be on Sunday, May 3.
With May being such a busy month, it can be hard to hold Preteens when only 1–2 kids are able to attend. To help us plan well, an RSVP is required for this final gathering.
Please email Noelle to sign up for Preteens so we know who to expect. We would love to gather one more time before summer!
Youth Solo or Small Group Performance
Do you have a youth who loves music? Singing or playing an instrument? We are seeking any that are interested in youth solo, duet, or small group to perform over the summer. This is geared for those who love to shine and perform, honoring God by sharing music. Please reach out to Tia for details.
Missions Team Thanks You
The Missions Team gives a big THANKS to you all!
You donated 17 Mother's Day gift bags for Parker Task Force.
We had 26 volunteers for the blood drive.
Our church is truly blessed to have so many who are willing to help those in need. Sending prayers and blessings from the PUMC team. Reach out to Tammy or Tia for more information
What Are the Parker UMC Endowments?
There are four separate funds that make up Parker UMC’s Endowment Fund:
The Scholarship Fund provides our graduating high school seniors with some support as they move into their next educational setting.
The Stroh Fund helps keep our building and the surrounding grounds in good shape, funding major equipment replacements and other significant property costs.
The Preschool Fund provides financial support every year for our Little Blessings preschool.
The General Fund can be used for a wide variety of church and missional needs and programs.
Sign Up for 2026 Altar Flowers
Our altar flowers each week are given in honor or memory of someone. We usually have one arrangement each Sunday. The church office orders from our vendor, Little Shop of Flowers.
If you are interested in ordering flowers, please fill out the Sign Up Genius for 2026 here. You can also email or speak with Candi in the church office. Cost is $50 per arrangement.
Please speak with Candi Robinson if you have any questions.
Thanks for beautifying our altar table!
In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 216 in the church.
We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.
For May 3 Sunday worship:
This week's sermon: Be a Witness #toInfinityandBeyond
Scripture: Matthew 28:16-20
Guiding Questions:
We are starting a new sermon series To Be or Not To Be the Church. This scene in Matthew 28 is a resurrection encounter. What do you notice about the disciples in this scene? How does it relate with the previous encounters (John 20:19-31, Luke 24:13-35, John 21:1-19 if you need a reminder)?
There is an interesting difference between Matthew 28:10 and Matthew 20:16. Jesus tells the disciples to go to Galilee and then they went to the mountain in Galilee. What is the importance of Galilee in Matthew? In seeing Jesus on a mountain?
Verse 19-20 is the crux of this scene. Jesus commissions his disciples, giving them their marching orders. What are they supposed to do? If Jesus were to commission us today, how might this be worded differently to address our particular context?
Discuss the importance of Jesus' final words in this reading, in all of Matthew's gospel.
Finally -- this Sunday, we are celebrating how God has called women to lead in ministry, especially in Parker UMC and women nurtured by Parker UMC. What does it mean to you that women were officially ordained in full membership in 1957? And will you wear red on Sunday, and why?
Please join us this Sunday as we start a new sermon series To Be or Not To Be the Church. This Sunday's message is "Be A Witness #toInfinityandBeyond" and our scripture reading is Matthew 28:16-20.
