MIDWEEK MESSAGE
Confirmation Sunday
Come support and celebrate this year's Confirmation class this Sunday at the 9:00 a.m. worship service! These 23 youth have been working hard all year, learning about their faith, building community and wrestling with hard questions. This will be a milestone moment for our youth so make sure not to miss this amazing day.
We are so proud of these youth and cannot wait to watch them continue to grow!
Upcoming Blood Drive
Giving blood isn't fun but saves lives. Thanks so much to the 19 donors for signing up for Parker UMC's Vitalant Blood Drive on Sunday, April 19, 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. We need 13 more donors to fill ALL our slots. There will be a signup table in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday.
Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S needs blood due to cancer, car accidents, traumas, labor/deliveries and surgeries. Our care depends on the availability of blood and right now there is a shortage. Who's most vulnerable now? Sign up through donors.vitalant.org and use drive code 0894. Or use the QR code on the left.

Pick up a copy of the application at the church office or download it now. Email your completed application to Pastor Cody or Candi Robinson.
Mission Trip Scholarships Needed
This summer, our youth are preparing to step out in faith and serve others through our upcoming mission trips to Colorado Springs and to Detroit. For some of our young people, the only thing standing between them and this life-changing experience is financial support.
If God has placed it on your heart to invest in the next generation, we invite you to consider contributing to our Youth Mission Trip Scholarship Fund. Every gift, large or small, makes a difference and helps ensure that no student is left behind because of financial need.
To give or to learn more, please email Pastor Cody.
Thank you for helping our youth make a difference!
UWF Book Group
The Parker UMC United Women in Faith (UWF) Book Group was not included in the Spring Flyer of Events.

Beware of Text and Email Scams
Scammers are getting more creative, and churches are often a target because scammers know people want to be helpful and generous.
As you probably know, there have been several fake emails and text messages that have gone around pretending to be one of the pastors and maybe a staff member.
We want to make sure you know how to tell what is real and what is not.
Here is a document with more information.
If you have any questions, please speak with Pastor Laura.
We appreciate your diligence!
In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 216 in the church.
We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.
For April 19 Sunday worship:
This week's sermon: Resurrection Encounters: Jesus Walks With Us On Our Journey
Scripture: Psalm 116:1-4, 12-19 and Luke 24:13-35
Guiding Questions:
Psalm 116 is someone telling their story of being rescued. How are the resurrection encounters also stories of rescue or transformation? What similarities do you notice between the psalmist crying out to God and the disciples’ experiences after the resurrection?
Luke 24:13-35 is often called The Walk To Emmaus. Have you ever gone on a walk or drive where a conversation really stuck with you? What made it meaningful? Why can a walk or a drive help foster deeper conversations?
Jesus walks with the disciples yet they don’t recognize him. Why do you think that is? What does this say about how Jesus meets people in seasons of confusion or doubt? Where might Jesus be walking alongside you right now, even if you don’t fully see him?
The disciples say, “We had hoped…” What does that phrase reveal about their expectations of Jesus? How do unmet expectations affect our faith? Have you ever had a “we had hoped” moment in your life? What was that like?
The disciples finally recognize Jesus in the breaking of bread. Why do you think it happens in such a simple, ordinary moment? Where do you see God showing up in everyday life? How can we become more aware of God’s presence in ordinary moments?
As soon as they recognize Jesus, they go back to Jerusalem. Why is that significant? What changes in someone's life when they have a resurrection encounter? Have you ever had a moment that changed your direction or perspective?
Please join us this Sunday as we start our sermon series, Resurrection Encounters. This Sunday's message is "Jesus Walks With Us On Our Journey" and our scripture readings are Psalm 116:1-4, 12-19 and Luke 24:13-35.
