Missions Events
Who are the vulnerable ones in need? Parker UMC's Missions events highlight some of our most needy neighbors. Thanks to you, Parker UMC, we have been able to help Parker Task Force, UMCOR and Feed My Starving Children.
Thanks to those that donated and assembled hygiene kits for UMCOR. We provided 126 completed kits, along with additional supplies for UMCOR.
We are collecting Easter Baskets for Parker Task Force through March 22. We have 19 donated baskets thus far.
Please sign up for Parker UMC's Vitalant Blood Drive on Sunday, April 19, 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. So far 4 of 32 slots are reserved. Remember that every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S needs blood due to cancer, car accidents, traumas, labor/deliveries and surgeries. Quality care depends on the availability of blood and right now there is a shortage. Who are the vulnerable ones now? Sign up through donors.vitalant.org and use drive code 0834.
Together, we care for all of our neighbors.
Contact Tammy Knowles or Tia Reinschmidt for more information.
Join the Missions Team
Are you interested in joining our Missions Team? You are invited to be a part of the decisions of how we might help locally, within our country, and globally. Current mission areas include UMCOR, Parker Task Force, Feed My Starving Children, blood drives, and more. We are open to expanding our mission areas.
The Missions Team currently meets on the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom but are open to adjusting this to work better with the Team. If interested, please reach out to Tammy Knowles or Tia Reinschmidt.

Beware of Text and Email Scams
Scammers are getting more creative, and churches are often a target because scammers know people want to be helpful and generous.
As you probably know, there have been several fake emails and text messages that have gone around pretending to be one of the pastors and maybe a staff member.
We want to make sure you know how to tell what is real and what is not.
Here is a document with more information.
If you have any questions, please speak with Pastor Laura.
We appreciate your diligence!
In preparation for Sunday worship, here are questions to consider ahead of time. You can use these in your own devotion time, in conversation with family and friends, or in a small group setting. All are welcome to join one discussion group every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 216 in the church.
We hope this practice will help you engage with the scriptural texts and sermon at a deeper faith level.
For March 22 worship:
This week's sermon: The Good News is . . . Rooted in Justice, Mercy, and Faithfulness
Scripture: John 8:2-11; Matthew 23:23
Guiding Questions:
This Sunday, we will be talking about how the good news is rooted in justice, mercy and faithfulness. When you hear the words justice, mercy, and faithfulness, which one stands out to you the most right now? Why? Can you think of a time when someone showed you unexpected mercy? If so, share.
Read John 8:2-11. What stands out to you about how Jesus responds to the crowd and the woman? Why do you think Jesus chooses not to condemn her but still tells her to “go and sin no more”? Where do you see justice, mercy, and faithfulness present in this story?
Who are those in our lives that we would rather cast stones at instead of forgive? What about in our world? Who are the people in our community today that might feel like the woman in this story (exposed, judged, or alone)?
Read Matthew 23:23. Jesus criticizes the religious leaders for focusing on small rules while neglecting “the weightier matters.” What do you think Jesus means by the “weightier matters of the law”? Why do you think it’s easier to focus on rules than on justice and mercy?
Where do you see people today emphasizing the letter of the law while missing the spirit of compassion? When have you struggled to balance justice and mercy in your own life? Why do you think faithfulness is included with justice and mercy?
What might it look like for our church or community to live more deeply into justice, mercy, and faithfulness?
Please join us this Sunday as we continue our sermon series, The Good New Is.... This Sunday's message is Rooted in Justice, Mercy, and Faithfulness and our scripture readings are John 8:2-11; Matthew 23:23.
9 a.m. Sunday: Blended service with traditional elements and a variety of music including hymns, handbells and choir.
10:30 a.m. Spark! Worship: This service includes contemporary praise music, and an informal style that offers a play area for children, opportunities for you to be involved in service, and the freedom to practice prayer and worship in exciting and personalized ways.
5:30 p.m. 2nd Wednesday of each month: At The Table. We gather around a meal, share conversation and stories of faith, and complete a small mission project.
All requests to add an item to the Midweek should be emailed to Pastor Laura by 6 p.m. on Monday evening.
