For January 11 worship:
God Still Speaks
Scripture: 1 Samuel 3:1-10
Guiding Questions:
This week begin a series on How to Hear God. Most of us are curious how God speaks to us so that we can hear. Has there been a time when you felt God speak to you? What do you remember about that moment?
Maybe you haven't heard God speak, or at least loud enough to recognize it. How might God speak to you? When might you expect God's voice or message to come to you? There are no right or wrong answers here; just consider what your expectations are.
Our passage from 1 Samuel 3 is of God calling to the child or teenager, Samuel. What was Samuel doing when God called to him? How did God reach out to Samuel? Why was Samuel confused?
It took Eli a bit to realize what was happening. What did he encourage Samuel to do in order to hear what God was saying to him?
Do you believe God speaks to you? What might that look like for you? If possible, share your thoughts with someone else, noting what you have in common and how your expectations might be different.
Please join us this Sunday as we begin our new sermon series, How to Hear God. This Sunday's message is God Still Speaks and our scripture reading is Samuel 3:1-10.
9 a.m. Sunday: Blended service with traditional elements and a variety of music including hymns, handbells and choir.
10:30 a.m. Spark! Worship: This service includes contemporary praise music, and an informal style that offers a play area for children, opportunities for you to be involved in service, and the freedom to practice prayer and worship in exciting and personalized ways.
5:30 p.m. 2nd Wednesday of each month: At The Table. We gather around a meal, share conversation and stories of faith, and complete a small mission project.
All requests to add an item to the Midweek should be emailed to Pastor Laura by 6 p.m. on Monday evening.
