Re Entry Plan

Remind Rules:

  • Remind is a reminder/information app. I will not answer academic questions through the app

  • My Remind hours are from 7:45 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Do not expect a response before or after these times.

  • You are welcome to send me a message that informs me you have emailed a question or would like to schedule a Google Meet during class or during my conference.

  • Check the app periodically or set up alerts in order for you to receive important information in a timely manner. I will only use the app for announcements if they are time-sensitive or before/after class hours (again, this would be only in rare circumstances)

Behavioral Expectations:

As this is a college prep course students will be required to act accordingly. Students will need to come to class prepared, not only physically but academically as well. Maturity and discipline within each student is expected and essential. A mutual respect for all peers and the facilities will allow the students an effective environment in which to learn and grow.

Classroom Rules:

  • Be in class on time and prepared will all materials, ready to work

  • Student's English notebook/novel-Chromebook (charged) is required every class meeting

  • Give respect to each and every member of the classroom and you will receive it in return

  • No cell phones used during class (unless instructed by the teacher)

  • Complete all missed assignments and tests in a timely fashion

Distance Learning:

  • All work must be completed by 11:59 the day it is due

  • You must sign on to Google Classroom EACH DAY and complete the check-in &/or assignment for that day

  • If you have ever have a question on an assignment, I will be available the last 15 minutes of every class period (email) and during my conference (by appointment).

-If the question is lengthy you may message me on REMIND and request we Google Meet during the last 15 minutes of your class period.

-You can also send a question any time during the day via email and I will respond as soon as possible.

-For assignments not due that day, feel free to jump into the TUTORIAL Google Meet during the tutorials time frame (7:50 - 8:15) for extra help.

  • All tests MUST be taken synchronously at the exact day of the test & time of the class period you are enrolled. Tests will be turned in at the end of the class period.

  • All make-up tests must be scheduled in advance with the classroom teacher (email)

  • Google meets during the teacher’s conference (for extra help) must be scheduled in advance by the student (Google Form - Home page)

Remote Learning:

Remote Learning is an option for families who, even with all preventative measures in place, do not feel comfortable sending their children to school. Students in Remote Learning will receive instruction from PISD teachers in real-time, recorded, and also self-paced instruction.

  • Students must remain in the online program for a minimum of one grading period before transitioning to the on-campus learning plan.

  • Internet and computer access are required during the school day, Monday through Friday.

  • Parental support and supervision are necessary for a student to be successful. The parents act as a “learning coach.”

  • Paris ISD traditional grading system will be used.

  • Students will follow Paris ISD dress code. Students should have a designated, distraction free workspace to engage in learning.

  • Students will utilize the same curriculum as students who attend on campus instruction and teachers will design strategies for learning in the remote environment.

  • Remote learning courses that earn high school credit will count in the GPA calculation and class rank as outlined in the PISD grading policy.

  • Tech help will be provided to parents and students.

  • Students will complete activities assigned each day.

  • Students will show proof of participation in daily virtual instruction by satisfactorily completing assignments to demonstrate evidence of student learning, e.g. video, picture or activities submitted as lessons and/or completing assignments.

  • Students and parents will communicate with the teacher when needing additional assistance, tutoring, etc.
