BUSINESS EDUCATION

Plans in the event of a school closure

In the event of a long-term school closure, I have a plan in place for meaningful learning for my students. See below for information specific to each of my Business classes if we close school.

-Mrs. Drew

plan for learning during closure

  1. Business Education students will use Google Classroom. Students can find a link to their Google Classroom by clicking the name of their class or picture below.

  2. Information will be shared via Google Classroom, which will include announcements, assignments, resources, grading and feedback.

  3. Synchronous learning sessions, where the class may meet using Zoom or Google Meets, will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at generally the same time the student would be in their Business class. A modified bell schedule may be used. If so, that will be posted here for ease of access. Session times and dates will be posted in advance to give student notice. These sessions will be videotaped and posted to Google Classroom for those who cannot make it to synchronous meetings.

  4. Grading will happen within the usual 10 days, along with individual feedback on Google Classroom.

  5. At the high school level, contact will primarily be made with students via Google Classroom and emails. If a student is not checking into Google Classroom, participating and completing work, Mrs. Drew will email the parents. If contact is not returned with 2 days, Mrs. Drew will make a phone call to the parent.

  6. If you do not have a Chromebook or laptop at home and the school has not yet provided you with a device, paper instructional packets will be handed out to students weekly. Packets are due back to the school a week later, when another packet will be available for pickup.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS DURING CLOSURE

  1. Students will log into Google Classroom each day that they would normally have class, typically Monday through Friday to check for assignments, announcements, live instruction or class discussions.

  2. Students will participate in synchronous video sessions, to the extent that they're able.

  3. Students will complete assigned work, following posted due dates.

  4. Students will review teacher feedback and respond as needed.

  5. Students will check their school email account frequently, especially during school closures.

  6. Students will reach out to teachers if they're struggling, overwhelmed or are having any difficulties.
