Ready to save lives?
Dads in Distress groups operate in what is sometimes referred to as a social franchise. Each group local in its community stands alone in many ways. It has its own manager, promotions person and its team of group facilitators that run the weekly group.
Managers come in two forms: the initial start up phase and the the ongoing management of the group. Anyone with the appropriate skills can apply for and deliver this voluntary role.
Promoters work to raise awareness in their local communities through use of social media, local legacy media (e.g. radio, newspapers), postering relevant venues and by collaboration with local referral pathways (e.g. GP's, other charities, police, courts, contact centres, mediators etc.). Anyone with the appropriate skills can apply for and deliver this voluntary role.
Facilitators manage the support groups when they run so they need to be peers themselves. i.e. separated dads for DIDs groups. To share the workload through rostering, we aim to have up to 6 facilitators per group to allow you to attend as a lead facilitator, backup facilitator or just as a dad because even hero's need a little love sometimes.
Since we also work online, the answer is everywhere. Don't let your location put you off from applying. Each location has a need for a team of around 9 volunteers to make it fully functional and sustainable in the long term. However, even if we have the full complement new volunteers are always both needed and welcome to help spread the workload.
