You'll need a crochet hook and yarn. I also recommend buying fabric scissors (usually found with sewing supplies). Go to Let's Learn for a guide on buying hooks and yarn.  

A sewing needle, (or darning needle) is needed for finishing most projects. This may be found in a home sewing kit. 

Stitch markers help when working in a magic circle, but paper clip and safety pins work just the same. 

Learning any new skill will be tough in the beginning. Crocheting takes patience, practice, and determination. 

Don't be afraid to ask for help! Attending meetings regularly can help improve your skills.
