Shared time programs provide an opportunity for students to receive vocational and technical training while still attending high school. Students attend the satellite program for half a day, either in the morning or afternoon, and attend Paramus High School the other half of the day. All academic classes and co-curricular activities are scheduled at the high school, and a PHS diploma is issued to the student at the time of graduation.
Important Deadline: To pursue a shared-time opportunity, students must submit their application and notify their counselor for course-request updates by April 1st.
Automotive Technology
The Automotive Technology program prepares students for careers in the automotive service industry through hands-on training and classroom instruction. Students learn to diagnose, maintain, and repair modern vehicles, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering and suspension, heating and air conditioning, and electronic systems. Training emphasizes the use of industry-standard diagnostic equipment and real-world troubleshooting techniques.
Electrical / Electronics Technology
The Electrical / Electronics Technology program provides students with foundational and advanced skills in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems. Students gain hands-on experience with wiring methods, electrical theory, circuitry, motors and controls, fire alarm systems, and electronic technologies. The program prepares graduates for entry-level positions in the electrical field and related industries.
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration)
The HVAC program prepares students for careers installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Through classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory training, students develop skills in system diagnostics, electrical controls, energy efficiency, refrigeration principles, and climate control technologies used in residential and commercial settings.
Training in Eight (8) Trade Clusters: (Paramus) These programs are planned for a three or four-year training period. Schools will issue trade training and vocational skill certificates to students who meet all requirements.

*Students can only apply in grades 8 and 9 for the following school year. New students must apply in the fall by November for the following year.
Early Career Program: Coursework for Industry Certifications: (AM Program; Seniors only) Students can earn an industry credential or certificate and go right to work after high school or attend college and possibly receive college credits. Available programs include: Dietary Aide, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)/Certified Home Health Aide, Electronic Records Management, Certified Production Technician (CPT), Hospitality with Serve Safe, Child Development Associate (CDA), Construction Documents Management, Retail Pharmacy Technician, Information Technology, and Medical Coding.
