The "Pride of Paramus" Spartan marching band has been a glowing example of excellence at Paramus High School for many years. A North Jersey fan favorite show band, the Spartan Marching Band participates in several community events including football games, parades, pep rallies, competitions, and festivals. Year after year audiences are entertained by intricately designed and elaborately produced field shows featuring a diverse range of music from classic rock to movie scores, and more. Recent highlights include sweeping the "Music In The Park" marching band competition, winning first place in our category and overall across all divisions! This year the Spartan Marching Band will perform at the 75th Annual North Jersey Band Festival, the longest continuously running marching band festival of its kind.

Paramus High School's Math Club is a place for students to gather and discuss interesting and challenging math problems. Model UN
Model UN (MUN) is an educational simulation of the United Nations that immerses students into the world of international relations by participating in conferences in some of the most prestigious colleges and institutions around the country. Delegates collaborate to ultimately develop resolutions for pressing global issues; and as a result, bolstering awareness and concern for such issues. Model UN heightens leadership skills as well as expose students to memorable experiences and the opportunity to make lifelong friendships.

Musical Theatre
Members of the PHS Musical Theatre Club will work with Mr. Oliveri (Lead Director), Ms. Paizis (Assistant Director), and Mr. Rifkin (Music/Pit Orchestra Director) to prepare a new and exciting musical production each year. The Musical Club is active from November through March, with auditions being held in November and performances in March. Students rehearse 2-3 days a week after school, and occasionally on Saturdays.

National Art Honor Society
The National Art Honor Society is a program specifically for juniors and seniors for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of the highest standards in art areas and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community. To become a part of the Society, one must be taking at least one art or art history class, have taken two art courses prior to current year and be recommended by his or her art teacher.

The Business Club is open to all students. If you have an interest in learning about business related topics, this is the club for you. Topics under consideration to explore include Entrepreneurship (running your own business), Stock Market Game (Investing) and EconBowl and Economics Olympiad. As a club we will research business related topics and businesses that are of interest to you. We will explore ethics in business relationships and how businesses achieve ideals of excellence in business and be socially responsible.
For Juniors and Seniors you have the opportunity to apply to the National Business Honor Society. The NBHS promotes and recognizes academic achievement in business education at the secondary level and helps students develop leadership skills and character development.
National Forensic League (Debate League)
The National Forensic League, also known as the Debate Club, offers experience in formal debating. Debaters have an opportunity to participate in interscholastic competition. Paramus High School, along with eight other area high schools, belongs to the North Jersey Debate League. Monthly Varsity and Junior Varsity debate tournaments are held in which individual and team trophies are awarded. In May, the league holds an awards dinner to honor all debaters and judges and to recognize those who have compiled outstanding records. Debaters should expect to spend a great deal of time researching the debate topic, gathering evidence, preparing speeches, and working with a partner to prepare arguments. There is also the opportunity to be trained as a Debate judge.

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Paramus High School’s chapter selects officers who, under the supervision of the chapter adviser, coordinate and manage the chapter as a student organization. Do you love food? Are you always thinking of foods, the ways they are prepared? Then the ProStart Club is for you! P-Town Throw Down
What's our Goal: Produce multimedia content designed to promote and spotlight games, activities and important school events for PHS. The program will be aired on our YouTube Channel and will be supported by print, video, podcasts & social media content developed by the team. The print media will include updates on bulletin boards around the school, video media will include video content for YouTube & video boards around school; podcasts can be developed about various school events; Social media will include the development of online content including a weekly posting schedule.
How can you participate: You will join one of the project teams to help to develop ideas and content. Creative content areas include: On-Air talent; Video Production; Content research/development; Social media content; Signage development.

The Science National Honor Society is a national organization that encourages and recognizes scientific and intellectual thought. To qualify, students must have an unweighted 3.0 overall GPA and unweighted 3.5 GPA in the sciences. Additionally, students must be in an honors/AP science course during or before their junior year. And must take an additional honors/AP science course during their senior year or be active in a science-oriented club. Students will be required to participate in community service, as well as peer-tutoring.
Juniors should have taken or are currently taking HN Physics, HN Chemistry, or HN Biology.
Eligible science electives for seniors include AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, any of the AP Physics, HN Human Anatomy & Physiology, or HN Human Genetics & Biotechnology. AP Computer Science is not a science elective.

Senior Class of 2026
Committee members work closely with the Senior Class Advisor regarding school activities for the class.
As Seniors, the committee members will be taking more charge (through various leadership positions) in organizing school-wide sports tournaments, class fundraisers, coordinating the Senior Fashion Show, and communication with the entire class.

The Senior Events Club works with the senior class council and senior class advisor. Senior Events Club is a group of seniors who are responsible for organizing large-scale senior class events, such as Fashion Show and Prom. The Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica is an honor society for students of Spanish. The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese founded the society. The purpose of the society is the recognition of academic excellence in Spanish. The Paramus Chapter is known as the Capitulo Joan Miro of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica. S.T.E.M.
The Paramus High School S.T.E.M. Club was organized in 2015 and designed to give students an academic competitive environment. Students learn how to apply S.T.E.M. when solving real life problems. Much like that of interscholastic sports teams will compete against other schools. Competitions are scheduled during the school day and will allow teams to return as close as possible to the end of the school day. The competition event timeline follows the Engineering Design Loop and will use a league rubric to evaluate to what extent teams have implemented the STEM theme. Industry will be invited to introduce the real- life situation for the STEM challenge theme and judge the event.

Symphony Orchestra
Prerequisite: Must be enrolled in a scheduled music class.
Auditions and Teacher Recommendation
Designed for orchestral musicians in training, the Symphony Orchestra provides the opportunity to study and perform the varied orchestral literature of the 17th through the 21st centuries. In addition, emphasis will continue to be placed on developing individual technique, tone production, ensemble skills, ear training, and sight-reading. Repertoire will vary annually.
Members of the Wind Ensemble may audition for the woodwind, brass, and percussion parts of the Symphonic Orchestra. Students accept the performance calendar as a condition of club participation. Students must perform an assessment for the band or string instructor prior to registration.

The Tri-M Music Honor society is the only national honor society specifically dedicated to student musicians. Tri-M is open to juniors and seniors currently enrolled in honors level PHS music ensemble classes. Tri-M members participate in several community service projects that enrich the PHS music community and music education at large, including the annual Tri-M Coffeehouse.
